Following on from their Severe Thunderstorm warning is a road weather alert for this morning: -

ROAD WEATHER ALERT
Issued at 5:20 am on Friday, 21 December 2007

Rain periods are expected to develop over the Adelaide area this morning with
reduced visibility and possible low cloud and fog about the Hills, making
driving conditions hazardous for road users. Drivers are reminded to slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

I think the bom are right about the rain periods though

Adelaide has received almost 6mm in about 90 minutes so far. Melbourne's next in line.

Ohhhh shes wet alright !!! I drove down town to do some Xmas food shopping earlier today (being a Hills boy "town" means outer suburbs!!!) and the roads were very very wet and slippery and visibility was pretty ordinary, even had a couple of people in front of me get into half-spins going that little bit too quick.

Still, its nice to have a decent amount of rain around, the garden needed it and my car got a wash too which was a bonus !!!

I'm in the foothills and was just coming back from doing some Xmas shopping at Norwood & the village and I had to pull over because I could literally could not see what was ahead of me, car behind me stopped as well. Got water coming up to lawn on the nature strip

I think we might have even had 9mm in half an hour

We're copping it nicely here too. Yesterday we copped it badly, my friend drove his celica through this massive water flood and the pressure ripped the front of his bodykit right off, lol.
