It is a lot. That's precisely why it would encourage change. Two runs wouldn't make a difference but 25 would eradicate all semblance of laziness on the field

It just won't happen, umpires won't enforce it. Have said for a year, just start the game 30 mins earlier and extend the play by 30 mins.

Yeah that won't happen. Only in Australia or New Zealand during their height of summer would that even work in a practical sense. Actually I think this is all moot. Because the BCCI runs world cricket and if they wanted to clean it up it would've happened by now as Topkent said. But they only care about coin

The 1 times tables is a push let alone cards!
Last year I was watching the big bash and every game he commentated he seemed obsessed with getting Stoinis in all three formats for us. Like he was in love with him or something. Remember that?

India would want more cricket on TV...the issue is that huge penalties won't work either!

... which is why I personally advocate putting captains who can't get their sides to bowl 90 overs in the day to death.

A public beheading gets everyone's juices flowing for day 2.
That's just a stupid answer. There's absolutely no reason why you couldn't penalise a side runs, if you did sides wouldn't go anywhere near falling short they'd adjust.

Remember that? He still wants the muppet in every side...oh and lets not forget about Riley Meredith!

I still remember when this campaigner wanted Michael "nudie nut" Beer in the test side!

The one thing I will say is that batsmen have to take some onus and boy Smith is one of the worst at this...but why do you need gloves every 2 overs!

Oh now you're talking. And the stockade for those who put one finger on a nostril and blow the bajeesus out of the other one and snot goes everywhere on the field. Yuck!

Michael Beer omg that's a blast from the past. The poor man's Paul Harris

You know Beer was bad when Xavier Doherty seemed positively brilliant!

Are you saying that public beheading is too much of a penalty for a captain to bear for not meeting the 90 over quota? What a shocking thought! I wonder if someone has come up with that before?

In all seriousness, Warne needs to shut up. 25 runs for each over that isn't bowled in a day is waaaaay too much, which was my point. I'd say 5 runs per over would be acceptable, and 10 overs borderline but would fix the problem.

But the problem is that there is no desire within ICC circles to fix this problem. It's essentially bigfooty bants for how meaningful or significant it is.

I wish they'd let their players play the big bash. Imagine pandya tonking our resident pie bowler monenti everywhere? Or bumrah detonating poles.

The other thing that MAY work is no warnings for captains. Just suspend them. Bowl the overs or you sit out the next test. Captains will get the message very quickly.

Omg man. Why are you bringing up those bad memories. Doherty!!!! KP should have been locked up for the ownage he put on Doherty at Adelaide I think it was a few years ago

Oh goodness imagine Abbott's figures lol!

I'm surprised they don't allow retired players to play in the BBL at least.

I did like the thing around that time. SOK was the one that got KP in the tour match as well as 50+ (was the time where he was decent with the bat)...so instead of picking the bloke that actually got Pieterson out, they picked the hack that didn't lol

It would actually break alot of barriers and prejudice etc the same way our players have now been accepted and deified over there through the IPL (Maxwell excepted lol sehwag). If their players performed wearing our domestic colours they'd be "us" not them the way the media likes to divide us

Geez it's enough to drive a player to drink eh SOK 😉

Again, the ICC won't go for it, and no umpire is going to suspend Virat Kohli, Joe Root or whoever the **** is captaining South Africa!

It. Won't. Happen. It's why Dusty, Ablett, Danger, Fyfe don't get suspended for suspendable acts.

It is a problem for us the fans, and no-one else.

Yep 100% agree, and that's the major issue. They find it hard enough to WARN captains let alone suspending them.

Hopefully the BCCI is monitoring this website and taking down notes for improving the game and at their next AGM all of our concerns get discussed and implemented
