Well done to the kid. Been a consistent performer at VFL level since his arrival, always seems to get where he’s needed, good skills. Puts him on a par with the likes of Long, Noble, and Johnson who debuted around R17-18 after being taken in the MSD.
18km in one game is elite

Not seeing enough love for this guy’s name. Roan Steele. It’s a ripper. Well done Mum and Dad. Or just Mum or just Dad - whatever.

And as an astute poster has already noted - he has a Collingwood head. Just look at him. You’ve seen him before.

What position does he play?

Stop asking sensible questions.

We’re in the middle of a love-fest where we expect Roan Steele (gotta keep saying it, over and over) to be a combination of Beau and Shoota, with some of the old Steele thrown in.

He's your Izaak Rankine/Greg Williams type.

Sounds promising. The wing is probably one position that is up for grabs?
He seems naturally suited to that kind of attacking wing role that Sidebottom plays, with Allan being a bit more defensive. I think he’s a real chance of being solid immediately

I don't think one wing plays more offensively or defensively than the other - it comes down to whether they're on the fat side or not. I think it's that we have a preferred side that we play through more often and Crisp or Sidey play on that side as it's more congested and thus more suited to blokes who are inside mids as well as hard running wingmen - thus they get more of the footy because that's the side we play through most often.

Why has he been overlooked? Assuming some weakness in his game?
It could simply be others preferred given there is a finite number of positions. It does not have to be a weakness. Same logic with Mihocek. His biggest weakness is he’s not 200 cm. Other players may have had more strength areas at the time filling a certain clubs needs so to speak.

Sounds like a turbo charged sloth

I'll be happy just to hear "Steele... Sidebottom... Goal!"

I don’t really think it’s a role (although see how that came across), but a combination of natural inclination and what you say
