Roar change name, keep licence

Foundation club Queensland Roar will become the Brisbane Roar this month but the FFA have denied they are preparing to take back their A-League licence.
High-ranking sources have confirmed the Roar will officially change their name from Queensland to Brisbane before the 2009-10 A-League draw is released early next month.
With two more Queensland clubs - Gold Coast and North Queensland - admitted to an expanded 10-team competition, kicking off on August 7, the Brisbane-based Roar can no longer claim to represent the whole Sunshine State.

Now come on NF, I live in Maylands. Not the shitty part mind you, I'm down near the golf course. But that aside...

I took the missus along to the David Strassman premiere at the Regal last night. Some ignorant douchebag left his phone on during the show and it went off. Rather than stressfully turning it off, they just let it ring. And ring. And ring. To the point that it stopped the show. Finally, they up and left the show after about 30 seconds, and in the guise of one his puppets David made a quip about the phone user being from Balga (running gag of the show about the shittiest suburb in Perth).

I swear I heard someone at the mixing desk say to the phone guy as he left the Regal "fuc&ing Eagles a-hole".

So my money's on Balga. Sure it was all cheap and rundown in the 80's, but throw a lick of paint on it and a lot of money at it and it's all shiny and new. It's certainly got nice houses in there now, and the payoff has been pretty good for those who got in to the suburb during the early 90's... to the point that it's reputation in the media makes Fremantle rundown and second rate by comparison.

But deep down we all know that it's still shit.
