didnt barker win a best and fairest at fitzroy under 19s..big things were expected of him..i guess he took a little longer to mature but its great hes doing well...a freind of mine with Beale who played under 19s with him had big raps on him thought he would be huge at the roys but it didnt quite happen...better late than never i guess

I reckon he was huge at the Roys. Considering the circumstances, I thought his performances, especially in '96 were excellent.

If he'd been at a club, right from the start, that could have given him a stable environment, and the "scaffolding" of more experienced players, Barker would/could have been the next Paul Roos (might still be, if he continues to improve, albeit, it might be a bit late to reach those heights).

I still love him though!
