The reason I jestingly questioned your statement, was that while he's got plenty of talent, Cumbo doesn't provide "more run" than literally anyone. That's why he's playing VFL - working on his tank and defensive game - while forwards like Mansell who can outrun him are reaping the rewards of that in the seniors.

He might cover ground a bit faster than Miller when he's trying to get on the end of something from up-field, but you're seriously underestimating the territory some of our young talls like Miller and Gibcus have to cover as part of our game plan if you're under the impression that including Cumbo adds "more run" ahead of any of them.

Cmon mate. This is the same guy that wants Hopper in the 2s and Taranto Forward

With the chatter regarding Cumberland I found the recent comments by Steve Morris quite insightful.

Steve is a supporter of his players that is clear but he does provide very sober assessments.

He made the statement that Cumberland if played out of the square could easily kick 5 or 6 goals a game and be a star in the VFL if he played in an unstructured manner.

but the club knows he has greater potential than that and he is learning the fabric of playing within a structured process and more importantly the Richmond way.

I think that is probably the most succinct assessment of what the club thinks of Cumberland's potential and Morris's sentiments have been backed up by comments made by Hardwick.

We see the goal scouring potential as supporters and with lather at the mouth wanting more.

Let him loose to kick a bag in an unstructured game and be a fleeting star or hone his skills within the Richmond fabric, the Richmond structure and become an entrenched scoring menace in our forward line for many years to come.

I trust Morris to hone those skills to a sharp edge because we have had fewer harder and more fierce edges than Steve Morris at Tigerland. Morris bleeds Yellow and Black and he does not want Cumberland a minute longer in the VFL than he needs to, I still remember when Steve Morris ruptured his ACL in his knee the oppo was streaming toward our goal and Morris in distress still lunged forward to knock the ball away when most players would have crumpled down due to the pain.

I trust Morris will get the job done for Dimma and in doing so Cumberland will become the scoring weapon we can all see he is capable of.

Sadly its not Cumbos tank that needs improvement, its all above the shoulders
