We’ve won 3, should of won 5 for the year so far. Cats were always gonna smoke us. The fact we put in some credible effort needs to be recognized.
When we have posters calling premiership heroes weak, a disgrace to the jumper, already calling for a coach sacking (they’re clearly no better than Carlton supporters or forget the years 1980 to 2000 in particular), it’s just a nonsense. We know the path we’re on. We’re gonna be shithouse next year as well. Not saying you’re any of the above, but we need some perspective on things. And i’m just not gonna tolerate the above to be honest.
It’s not all sunshine and lollipops. I get it. I really do. I lost my lolly last week as well. But, it’s where the list is at and club. Until we get a heap of these lads north of 50 games and 3 pre seasons, we hot more of the same coming.

We replaced Rioli with Trainor, Dusty with Lalor, Jack with Armstrong/Faull etc etc. If people can’t understand that, then there’s no point us trying to explain it.

That was a hard watch. Despite our obvious failings the team still played with enthusiasm- a far cry from Carlton's effort on Friday night. but for me the highlight of the night was the Geelong fan who had the coin toss before the game...flipped the coin then couldnt see where it went. It had gone straight over his head and landed in the grass behind him!

Still doesn't beat the guy who did his hammy tossing the coin!!

It looks like we’ll have at least 4 forced changes - Lalor, Hugo, Balta & Alger all out. Can’t see any unforced changes.
So the ins IMO will be Short, Steely, Taj & Kosi.
The only other option I see available is Tresize in case they want to wait a bit longer on Taj.

This feels nothing like our rebuilds in the 2000/2010s. Back then we had lots of exciting young players (as in many of our best players on any given day would be under 24) and you'd see wild momentum-shifts because for a quarter or two things would 'click' but we'd also get whalloped at other times.

Whereas nowadays we're very consistent: bad but competitive. Which reflects the fact that 90% of our output is actually coming from veterans who are hogging the most important roles and the dour mindset Yze has which extends from the gameplan to list selection.

Even when we were famous for slow-starts I don't remember us struggling to score more than a couple of goals in the first half week-in week-out.

I'd like to see OHB get a game. Essendon do not have a dominant ruck so we could play Nank forward and OHB in the ruck

Yes, that’s the point. He’s played a bunch of consecutive games and is probably as fit as he’s been all season, and it shows. My point was he always comes back overweight and out of shape, then it takes him half a season to build a fitness base. Early rounds he’s only capable of cameos as he’s legless by games end.

Hotton really looks a class above many with ball in hand. Hes the one that will clean up our forward 50 entries. Amazing to be saying that about a bloke yet to play but all year we’ve given it straight back to their defenders or bombed it on Lynch’s head. I’m excited about his inclusion

He will certainly compliment Lalor in the future, very good with ball in hand & tough as a cats head.

First season under Dimma we conceded 107 points per game. Second season of 2011 it got worse to 109 PPG. Third season it was 88. These things take time… and from memory Dimma was operating with a reasonably healthy list, nothing like Yze has dealt with thus far.

We were able to score more freely under Dimma, but we had peak Jack winning the Coleman in 2010 and Dusty from his first season, two of the greatest scoreboard impacting players of the modern era.

Currently we have a cooked Lynch, KPF kids and Lalor/Hotton not playing. It’s no wonder we can’t score.

the big omission here is his team was packed full of quality kids already playing well and ours isn't.

Even before the drafts that brought us players like Cotchin and Martin, we had heaps of good kids like Lids, Foley, Raines, Jackson, etc. Sure some of them ended up being flashes in the pan like Dean Polo but in any given year we had several exciting young-guns (as in actually playing well, not merely highly seeded in the draft). And the rest of our players were mostly middle-aged like Newman and Richo.

What's our B&F going to look like this year? At a guess Banks and Campbell would be the only ones under 25yo getting into the top 10? By my reckoning we're many years away from having the same sort of profile Dimma started with, and with the compromised draft it's actually hard to get there at all.

Did you watch the VFL? Told you we struggle against crap teams. If they kicked straight would have been over anyway great win not giving up.
So now to the fun part, last quarter, struggling, Bayer injury was a blessing. Kozzy up front and Garner in midfield, which totally changed the game, and we looked a different side. Now if that was the AFL do you trust Yze to make a change like that? Look, lots of people are for and against him, and like the election's time will tell whether the unexpected can happen. Personally, I think he will never make it, but I would love to be proven wrong.

So after Carlton and GWS near win and GC win were you blaming the results on the experience lost? That Carlton win changed the mindset of a lot of people who were thinking a winless season and so on. The real question people are asking is he the right person to guide us through these tough times? The rest is all BS, just excuses.
