I actually see glimpses of a player today on sonsie
Play him every week and watch the improvement

Sure there are area's of his game that need work but there is a afl player there

reminds me of blokes like Alex Neal-Bullen no one knew who he was until about 3 years ago after 5 years in the system he started coming good really quickly, and is now a vital cog. sonz just as good or better probably just needs a slight attitude adjustment

I'm going to defend Steely Green a bit here.

He remainds me a bit of Castagna - runs around like a headless chook, skills are sub-par, - but - he gets to a lot of dangerous positions, he always looks dangerous, he seems to pop up at the right times, he creates chaos etc......

I'm not writing him off yet - he sees the game well - whether he has the necessary skill to create enough impact is questionable - but I would keep perservering with him. He's still learning.

leads our team in SI for the season with 63.

So don’t just look at their own goals … these guys are playing their roles and as we keep improving they’ll get more goals of their own. Not much is easy as a forward half player in a struggling side - they will be inconsistent and often goalless.

It’s time to sunset Macca. We have too many youngsters needing opportunity, and we’ve just got to keep giving the likes of Sonsie and Green time to prove themselves, and bring in Clarke etc…

Macca can help the kids in the VFL and can come into the senior side if injuries hit etc … but he’s done his job in 2025. Look at what injuries and opportunity has unearthed just in the last month : Sims, McCauliffe and Banks all impacting games already. Time to give Clarke a wing / half back role.

Every senior game for these kids is like gold.

I see a lot of comments about our down the line play, and while I share the frustration I think it’s important to understand this often happens because the opposition cut off the dangerous kicking spots for us so it leaves us no choice.

Much like how we want teams to kick down the line to Vlastuin and Broad.

We aren’t doing it cause we are lazy or forgetful, we are doing it because oppositions set up doesn’t allow much else.

Just part of footy. Will happen to most teams every game at certain points.

It’s all about stacking up quality players who can be part of a future flag tilt. We’ve unearthed a few in the last month alone … Gray, Banks, Sims.

For anyone not feeling optimistic… here is my list of players that give me cause for optimism compared to end of 2024, when the players were either not looking as good, injured or not at the club (I’m leaving out those who haven’t played yet):

McCauliffe

Faull had 8 touches, 5 marks and could’ve easily had 2 or 3 goals. These are very solid numbers for a young KPF. What do people expect? He’s doing just fine and doesn’t need a rest IMO.

I just feel that Faull could use a spell to build confidence and knowledge in the system. No one can fault his endeavour but that’s all he has right now. Needs to build an afl skillset on top of his raw talent and build some confidence. It would do him some good and give someone else a chance (eg Lefau, Fawcett, Bauer). I’d be keen to get Lefau in given his age profile

MRJ played well in the middle.
Drop a mid for him when he backs it up. 50 times.

and Malcolm Blight for Faull? he kicked 3 goals in 4 games he played forward. Playing the Swans at the MCG Faull wont be dropped for Blight.

Balta is straight in. He was invisible but no way he doesn't play seniors.

Young isn't doing enough to stay on the list.

I think he learns more with Lynch coaching him during the game...

He only drops out if he is injured or needs a rest.

Cant believe people on here want MRJ back in the side after an okay game in the VFL. He has proven time and time again that he just isnt AFL standard.

He needs to string 3 or 5 games like he did today in the VFL to be considered over the forwards we have in atm

We also showed everyone they can come from behind. They were pathetic and we should have been an easy 50 points up. The forwards let us down badly those easy misses one after the other. I know we are young we are inexperienced I know we need to pump games into them but this are the type of games you build confidence and belief.
