Banging the door down may have been a little bit of a stretch but there are at least 7 who are ready to step up
  • Tresize
  • Clarke
  • Alger
  • Lefau
  • Blight
  • Rioli
  • Bauer
  • then there is Young, Kosy, Fawcett Ryan who are also playing OK and can pinch hit

The top 5 of that list are cherry ripe to play if needed and play valuable roles - Rioli and Bauer are good enough but just need to sort out some things in the 2s but could step in if needed - Bauer has been pushed right down the pecking order but looked to be getting back into a bit of form last w/e

not including Balta who also played ressies on the w/e
OHB should be in that last group now. He's big and he's showing something. Probably ahead of Ryan at this stage.

I don’t care. He gets 17-20 disposals at least every week, but it doesn’t mean he’s good.

He’s too slow. Not only by body, but with his decision-making. Kills our momentum too much.

Only fantastic game he had was against Carlton in Round 1
Agree he is a tad slow my reasoning is that is why he and Dow cannot play in the same team of the two prefer Ross

Why ?

With the younger kids improving in time that will give the older guys less pressure to perform at a higher level and have quality players around them.

Pies have Pendlebury (37) , Sidebottom (34) , Howe (34) , Elliot (32) and many other 30+ year olds playing career best football
Yeh and we had Cotch Jack , Edwards and Dusty whose output was clearly waining by 30 and then off a cliff at 32. Especially the way Nank, vlastuin and hopper, Taranto and Broad play. Not outside players like Pendleton and Sidebottom.

I’m watching Lynch pretty closely for the remainder of the season before I’d sign him on for another year. Hopefully he can work and improve on his mobility and stay fit. Easy decision if he can but if not there comes a point where you might want games into Jonty or Fawcett. Simms and Lefau would already be picked ahead. I guess they aren’t all fit at the same time but we do have a lot of forwards to rotate through. Doesn’t help that Lynch is kicking pretty poorly atm. Im interested what other people think, is Lynch a walk up start for 2026?
After investing in 3 young keys forwards this is probably the worst time to move on one of the games best key forwards.

Especially as we can’t afford a midfield coach, having Tom saves us plenty of soft cap

He was not towelled up by Cadman. Cadman was no.1 pick for a reason, because he can play. Took a couple of good marks but you have to expect that. some of Gray's pack spoils were fantastic. For a 3rd gamer he's playing like a seasoned player, remember Balta and Rance at his stage.
Balta was premiership full back by 21 taking gun KPFs to the cleaners weekly.

You must drink considerably during games. I’m yet to see some good games from Rioli, what Hallucinogenic were you on?
OK, I do drink considerably during games.
Rioli has actually played very reasonably in the midfield his last 5 quarters of VFL.
A little bit of too little too late, but if he keeps it up for a few more weeks.....

And even when not drinking I somehow double quote and don't know how to undo it?:confusedv1:

Only just got to watch the game now.

  • Welcome back Dion.
  • This performance is not a surprise by Miller for anyone who has actually been watching him play.
  • Sonsie probably the best I've seen him at AFL level in recent times. Those 2 errors were disappointing. Annoying he didn't get a run in the midfield though.
  • Steely. Hmm. Gets in some good places but does some really sub par things. Mainly losing his feet. Definitely looks better though when we play quicker like most of our smalls.
  • Seeing Campbell getting some hate. Thought he was pretty good? The dart to Sims and chip to Faull is his game. Class. Both resulted in points. If they get kicked we win and he has 2 awesome goal assists.
  • Sims. Wow. Clunk.
  • Ralphsmith nice game. Is getting better in the contest.
  • Faull more involved but looks out on his feet a lot. Getting multiple shots at goal a positive.
  • Love the way Banks just charges towards goal.
  • Hopper, Taranto exceptional.
  • Really liked McAuliffe's game. Has inside class and can break through a body. Nice kick to Lynch.
  • Mansell in a lot of people's outs. 7 score involvements, top 3 tackles for us......
  • Why does Lord of the Sook always offer up Balta in a trade, in an autopsy thread, in a game he didn't play? Strange bloke.
  • Have to keep Gray in. Will be disappointed if Balta walks straight in and it's him that goes. Probably will happen though.

We will still be re-building in 2026. No use to go ruthless just yet…

With 30 AFL games under his belt and a season and a half in the VFL. Dave Astbury was the full back, with fair backup of Grimes, Broad and Vlastuin. He had his fair share of Balta moments in his early days, just like Rance.

Gray has played 16 VFL games coming from nowhere, has 3 games under his belt, and showns great promise.

Thought I would go onto the Swans BF site for a bit of a laugh & found the following !!!

Reflection on last years shock defeat....

For those who have forgotten, in the corresponding game at the MCG last year, Richmond won. By 5 points. In what was widely considered at the time to be the upset of the decade.

It was, unfortunately, a sign of things to come.

Errol was stifled. Heeney was below his Colgate-brilliant best. Chad was strangely quiet. Jordon allowed Tim Taranto to get completely off the leash. McLean may or may not have played, to this day nobody is really sure.

Richmond’s playing ranks were decimated. Indeed so deep was their crisis, they had to get a bloke called Mykelti Lefau out of the cheer squad to stick some boots on & have a crack. He kicked 2 goals, sang the team song, jumped back over the fence and went home with his wife and kids.

And recognition of our great form this year....

Prestia, Hopper, Taranto and Hugo R took it right up to the Orange Team in the midfield this week. Nank is Nank (sigh). Vlaustin, McIntosh (he of the cool Vitas Gerulaitis style headband) and Broad are still effective down back. Tom Lynch is still a threat, when he's not being an utter douche. And then there’s the sprinkling of first round draft kids all over the park. Wholesale change isn’t likely. The Tigers have surprised everyone this season by being competitive.

Why would you promote MRJ above Smith....???
Reckon Smith has been bloody serviceable !!!
And done a job on Camerson, Kako and can't remember his name lst week but he's quick. Since Grimes has gone, we haven't had a lockdown defender, and he has done a good job on them.
