Cause MRJ deserves another chance based on his VFL BOG effort. Smith is too vanilla and a bit soft.
He needs to prove himself once more even though I have been crying for him to play mid. If he comes in needs to be over ross.

MRJ can play several good games in the VFL now for all I care, he's had plenty of walk-up opportunities at AFL level.

And done a job on Camerson, Kako and can't remember his name lst week but he's quick. Since Grimes has gone, we haven't had a lockdown defender, and he has done a good job on them.

Old man Cameron had his only good game of the year against Smith

Something I want to put on watch is how many points we score. Not something I'm going to be overly critical just yet, but our inability to score more than 80 points this season is something I want to see us improve on in the back end of the season.

The amount of scoring shots we had vs GWS is a good starting poimt, but to end up with sub 80 points again after that first quarter is disappointing.

I know that this might be too high of an expectation considering the makeup of our fwd line, but it's still something I'd like to see improvements on before the end of the season.

He kicked three but only one was with Smith standing him. I thought he did a good job on him. Cameron had little influence on the game.

Fair enough. I thought Smith had his pants pulled down by a wily old veteran running on fumes.

So is that an endorsement?
I think MRJ has to back it up. He played a good game but it was quite an open free flowing game, it will be raining this weekend and a bit of a slog, so won't be easy.
For me he needs to string 4 or 5 good games together in the VFL before being recalled to the seniors.

We will still be re-building in 2026.
no we wont, every game will be winnable from next year in fact I already feel that way this season

if pies can be top with one of the worst lists of all time, we can be anything next year

Not from what I saw. Cameron had 6 touches and only 1 of his 3 goals were on Smith.

I reckon he'll be a player.

Yes you don't become a midfielder overnight and step in and replace someone like Sonsie, last in line who has done his time in the VFL, without a few weeks at least of strong footy. Would be good if it did come to fruition because he really has a burst of 10m speed that not many do.

So is that an endorsement?
Not until he backs it up a few times.

He seems to be one of those guys who doesn't need to do too much to get a call up.

VFL coaches votes. Blight was BOG last week and 2nd best on this week. He deserves a game more than Balta does. If Yze has any balls he'll make Noah bang the door down like he (usually) does with the kids. Blight in would mean Gray has to move forward, not ideal but still far better than not in the team at all.

GWS Giants 12.8 (80) def by Richmond 13.14 (92)
10
Maurice Rioli Jnr (RICH)
6 Jacob Blight (RICH)
6 Joel Garner (RICH)
4 Harry Rowston (GWS)
3 Judson Clarke (RICH)
1 Mohammed Yassine (RICH)

In: Blight, MRJ, Clarke
Out: Faull, Kmac, Green

fb- Broad, Miller, Vlastuin
hb- Banks, Blight, Brown
c- Clarke, Hopper, Ralphsmith
hf- Taranto, Gray, Campbell
ff- Sims, Lynch, Mansell
r- Nankervis, Prestia, McAuliffe

i/c - Trainor, MRJ, Sonsie, Smith, Ross

Having said all that, it'll probably just be Balta & Clarke in for Kmac and maybe Gray

Feel like they might make Clarke wait until after the bye

Training report from lord Caesar. Nothing of note.
