Disappointing 2nd half after we'd played a reasonable 1st half for little reward. There were still some green shoots to take away from the game. Trainor continues to impress down back, Brown played a good first half before being shifted forward in the 2nd half, Banks and Ralphsmith had their moments, Lalor gave a few glimpses through the middle in the 2nd half with clean ball use.

Nankervis Hopper Taranto Broad & Vlastuin are standing up as leaders as they keep of fighting hard despite the scoreboard and while Lynch copped a bit of grief from supporters today his leadership inside the forward half where he is surrounded by a heap of young players still finding their way is immeasurable.

What was also disappointing is that after a long break where we got a chance to freshen up we ran out of puff in the 2nd half and allowed the Hawks to run us ragged as they continued to surge the ball forward and pile on the goals like a good side should in that situation.

As far as changes go, Maurice appears to have picked up an injury leading to him being subbed out, while Balta also hurt himself late, with what looked like a foot/ankle issue so they could be 2 forced changes, while the likes of Ross & Trezise could also find themselves in the mix for the VFL if we want to make some changes.

hopefully baltas injury isnt too serious just a minor rolled ankle it looked like

To trail, at one point, by 79 points against a Hawthorn team which, so far, has won jack 💩 and doesn’t have an especially strong list and didn’t even play especially well today is probably a fair assessment of where we’re at. No doubt, people will run around defending Yze but, really and truly, it’s almost impossible to see any aspect of the game where what we’re doing is up to scratch.

Midfield issue - apart from being second to the ball when it’s knocked clear of the stoppage- even if we win stoppage clearances our mids lack the class and composure to find someone on the outside who has time to use it so our clearances are almost always ineffective. Many other midfields better at that than us.

1st half we dominated for long stretches and forced 18 turnovers which is ridiculous. Just couldn’t score.

Hawks were just cleaner and made most of chances. That’s why they’re a top 4 side and we’re a bottom 4 side. Sometimes wonder if people remember that.

2nd half abysmal, we couldn’t go with them any more.

One thing I loved is for all of hawks bullshitery and campaignerishness our guys matched them every time. WCE and Norf players would have just sulked off and copped it.

Please bring in Mcaullife and draft midfielders at end of season.

Few phases in the game - hawks on top in all of them for one reason or another

At the start it was scrappy and no one could score. We had a ton of ball in forward 50 and would/should have got a couple of early goals.

Then the umps really got on us in earnest, as ohers have said very lax on hawthorn but the electron microscopes were out for us. 60-4 free kick count by this point doesn't lie.

Last quarter was more even - don't want to hear anyone saying hawks put the cue in the rack because they were still coming at us. Our fatigue and skill shortfall cost us all over the ground.

Overall inside 50s were about even but we can't go kicking to their players all the time. A lot of the time we kicked to the pocket for a trickier set shot than we could have had or we kicked to the goal square where they marked it easily. We should have been looking for the uncontested mark and set shot from 30-40 out straight in front but no one went into that space and no one looked to kick there. We were squeezed out onto the wings for too much of the game.

Not many positives to take but Hopper and Dow did well again, as did Tom Brown. BandF have a word with yourself if you think Short was among our best.

The way we played today, couldn't careless if we lose players to injury. Haven't felt this disappointed since games last year.

Never expected to win but to see our players stop trying and let their opponents rub our faces in it was unacceptable.

Norf at least would have scored more

Big couple weeks for Yze. Has yet to make any real move at the selection table. Senior players keep getting gifted games. Kids in the VFL not rewarded for form.

Short has been putrid and a poor leader. Kaleb Smith should be in his role and given a good run at it. McAuliffe is also a must inclusion. You need to reward form. Back up your selection integrity nonsense you've sprouted. Pick any number of underperforming mids for McAuliffe to replace.

Was happy with Trainor and Brown tonight; both played their hearts out.
100%. Both were fantastic today, really pleased with how they’re going right now.

Meanwhile, van Rooyen is playing VFL lol. I think that seals the Brown vs van Rooyen argument lol

Need to stop ****ing around and play Lalor at most center stoppages. His craft is worse than Taranto and Hopper, but he actually has a burst of speed and doesn't just bomb away.

No poking playing him forward when it's never down there

Well said

This hawks team an example of what we can be in 3 years time.

HRS works his ass off all day long. A few senior players could take note.

Trainor has 250+ games in him barring injury.

Very impressive. Lot has been said about Lalor (and deservedly so) but he's going to be the best of the bunch IMO.

Good luck with the rest of your season.
trainor betting than lalor? i think trainor is a gun but lalor will be better in long run surely?
