Possible changes for this week.

McAulliffe in (an absolute must and a full game), maybe Gray and Alger to debut?

Love Armstrong but maybe he needs a rest back to vfl so Fawcett perhaps ?

Do Smillie and Faull need a vfl game before a call up ?
unfortunatley fawcett suffered a broken nose and concussion

mcchins junior

That’s the ****ing thing, as his cohost said it’s just vaguely different, that’s good enough for the cfl when it’s richmond

Also Ginbey saw that contest he pushed Lalor into clear as day

I find the conversation about Hopper and TT (especially TT) very strange atm.

In his first season, TT was amongst the leading pack for the Brownlow (or was it the Coaches Votes?) up until half way through the season, before slowing down in the back half of that season. Last season, missed a couple months of football through injury, but still played reasonably well when all is said and done (as comparison, averaged the same amount of defensive stats as Cripps - tackles and PAs; averaged 3 less disposals - of which 4 less CP, 2.5 less clearances, 1 less ground ball get; had the same amount of effective kicks and both players had kicking efficiency of 50% - 55%). This season, he had a good first game (got Coaches Votes, and I feel like it's more likely that Yze gave 2 to Miller and Voss gave 2 to TT rather than the other way around), disappointing game vs Port, and the tagged vs the Saints (yet still putting up respectable numbers when all is said and done).

I think scrutiny should be more on Hopper, definitely, not only for his performance, but prove he can keep his body fit for the full season. Let's not forget that Hopper was almost single handedly keeping us in the Anzac Eve clash vs Melbourne from the middle with Pickett tagging and Bolton, Baker and Dow running shotgun against Oliver, Viney and Petracca until he got injured in the 3rd quarter. Again, the biggest question with Hopper is his body, and then he needs to improve his performances to a required level, and I'm not using one game to justify his pick.

We rightfully complain about the lack of speed from the middle, yet in the 2nd quarter yesterday, TT was still able to win first possession from the tap out of the middle and find himself in a 2 metre radius of space despite being hard tagged, with not a single player landing a finger on him. The bigger criticism should be put on our structure around centre bounce and stoppages, rather than just the individual players themselves (and if we are to look at individual players, I don't think we can have a fair conversation if we ONLY look at the same players each and every time, ignoring some other hard conversations that should be had as well).
they got sold a lemon by dimma they know if they stay at richmond they will never win a premiership,, they must be gutted knowing this ,we should do the right thing and trade them at the endof the year two teams competing cut our losses and move on

Do you really think another team would even want Tarranto Hopper ?.

GWS?? 😳 they took stringer and Hogan; Taranto & Hopper are angels by comparison

But yeah you have a point, not for the price we would want anyway
Stringer and Hogan will get over 100 goals between they would be handy for any club. The only thing ours get is a hefty pay check every week.

taranto is tagged every week. sadly he is a slow coach so a scrubber can run with him and minimise his effect. no dion, bolton, baker, dusty, jgti, baker leaves our midfield bereft of pace, talent, experience and depth. keep rolling our kids thru without throwing them to the wolves we all know this year is bottom two so lets except that taranto, macca, ross, dow and hopper can and will scrub and hack away as long as kids are getting some 20%-30% rotation time in there as well

We should trade Taranto and Hopper. As much as Norf is a laughing stock, they’ve pumped games into a core of young players over a few tough years and now they’ve topped up with some decent role playing veterans and they are competitive. Hawks have same playbook. Taranto and Hopper are not in our next window. May as well cash in some picks, do a few tough seasons and then look to add experience once we have a hardened core of young talent around 22-23 yrs old.
The problem is no club would want them. We wouldn't get any decent picks now, other clubs know they aren't great players the only one that thinks that is Richmond.

Would not mind Alger coming in. looked very productive in the VFL this week.

Harry Armstrong probably needs a spell, although I still would not mind him being persisted with.

Sims & Faull don't look ready to me.
I would give Campbell Gray a crack.

Needs to be some big changes after this week imo

I would bring in Alger, McAuliffe & Gray

The past 2 weeks is what I expected 2025 to be like. Round 1 already far far far surpasses any highlight i expected from our 2025 season, I was about as grim as Grimm gets. Winless and avg losses around 12goals. Round 1 win was great, but the last 2 games underline everything ludicrous about our list management in 2024. The kids were great gets, but to not address the "games experience lost/gained" ratio a bit was negligent.

Jack McRae I was very hot on us picking up. Completely free to anyone. We lost 1200 games of experience and got zero to replace them. Getting some experience in to support the midfield & down forward was obvious & McRae was the most credentialed. He has been awesome this year. We didn't even target midfielders specifically in the draft with 2025 in mind.

Yze gone back to being unimpressive fairly fast, which is sad to see. He has looked comfortable or confidence in the role yet. The "umms" were back & seems to do it more after bad games, it's not a reflection of his intelligence, but more so his confidence. In the box he looks like me getting invaded played Age of Empire 2 online battle & realising I am way out of my league & screwed.

I know he put his hand up about his errors in the Blight to ruck move, but I genuinely think that was always a stupid decision. Blights looked great down back nearly all the games i've seen. He has some moments where his skills and onfield presence can be very rural/unpolished - but he moves well and is a competitor. I was keen to see Blight try a few different things, even trialled as a forward - but until Balta is back from "Dunce Corner" he needs to be back at all times.

Geez Dimma really did stuff is up getting both Taranto & Hopper.

Club feels like it still needs to play both to justify the trade and that only leaves 1 more spot in the midfield most of the time.

Our club cannot be successful if Taranto, Hopper & Dow are all in the centre together for most of the match.

It's a shame Dow who is built like a winger can't play as a winger considering our lack of depth in this area of the field. Ralphsmith, Ross, Kamdyn & Banks it seems atm.

We need to come up with a solution because we will have Lalor, Smillie, McAuliffe, Sonsie all available & all able to play midfield soon but can't get a spot.

Club will give Armstrong a rest for Ryan I reckon after hearing Yze mention his ruck stuff up.

Just hope McAuliffe gets a crack and wouldn't mind seeing Alger get a call up if Mansell's appeal fails.

The club should have been strong enough to say NO, we were an aging list we needed some young talent.
If you get the right players and they make you a better team it works, like when we got Nank, Prestia & Caddy.

Taranto & Hopper is the example of it not working.
They didn't make us a better team at all.

Meehan at the club, Gale heading to Tazzy not paying attention, Dimma Fs off delivered a spoon
2023 & 2024 we have gone North at lost/traded a 1000 games of experience. Prestia out the door this year.
Lynch & Nank next year.

No TT & JH, midfield of KMac, Dow, Lalor, McAullife, Sonsie, Smilie, Ross?

We have tough seasons ahead whether Taranto and Hopper stay or not. JDM winner Taranto to half fwd be a help

I watched him pretty closely and yes few times spectating rather than be involved in every contest he can even if it’s a rundown . He’s been involved in a few good passages this year but not even a shot at goal yet , spot is very vulnerable for mine
Green is the one that has been playing the Kane Lambert role. Pretty hard to kick goals when he has to play very deep then run in support as we exit the ball out of defence. He obviously isn’t as good as Lambert but give him some time. He’s got talent

what do you reckon I have been saying for 2 years

so we have a long way to go until our boys are able to play 4 quarters

Ryan for Armstrong
If fit it will be Rioli over Alger for Mansels spot. I watched Alger on the weekend and there’s a lot to like, but he consistently tries to do to much and gets caught. He needs a bit more time. I thought Rioli would have been better on Sinclair in the second half.

And Ross has been terrible for two weeks. So out for mcc2

Faull may not be quite ready but he isn't far off, in for Armstrong or Bauer, the later the lucky. Faull is very athletic, great build for a running key forward, and great attitude.

McAuliffe has to come in. Last week was blowing hard at times, this week not so. Time to roll the dice with the young mids. McA and Lalor together will be a good combo down the track, both hard nuts with class.

Grey might be another who couid be good insurance and can play ether end. Could come in for Bauer.
