He only played a half. You would think if he needs to get fit they would have played him a full game.
McAuliffe played a full game last week but it was his first full hit. He was BOG but still short of a gallop.

This week he played 3/4, taken off as emergency for the the seniors. He did not look short of a gallop at all this week.

He is fit and he is ready and most importantly we need some grunt, speed and class around the ball.

Yep time to unleash him. Would love to see him go head to head with Neale, Dunkley, Ashcroft etc and see how he fares

I'd like to see both Tarranto and Hopper sent back to the vfl to work on their speed kicking and defensive pressure and to show the young players no one is immune to getting dropped for shit performance. I know Yze doesnt have the guts to make a statement .

At the very least one of them should be sub .

so we have a long way to go until our boys are able to play 4 quarters

Ryan for Armstrong
If fit it will be Rioli over Alger for Mansels spot. I watched Alger on the weekend and there’s a lot to like, but he consistently tries to do to much and gets caught. He needs a bit more time. I thought Rioli would have been better on Sinclair in the second half.

And Ross has been terrible for two weeks. So out for mcc2
Rioli? lol he’s not even fit and done nothing at VFL.

About Bauer

Seeing him live at the game he actually presents really well and gets to the right spots.
He just mistimed his jump for the ball nearly every time
Leaps too early

If he can get that right he will be a fine 3rd tall forward
How many times do I have to say it!he does it deliberately. He does not want any body contact.

The club should have been strong enough to say NO, we were an aging list we needed some young talent.
If you get the right players and they make you a better team it works, like when we got Nank, Prestia & Caddy.

Taranto & Hopper is the example of it not working.
They didn't make a better team at all.

FMD … I’m so sick of this narrative that Dimma was the sole driver of getting both TT and Hopper. It’s so ridiculously naive it’s not even funny any more.

Blair Hartley is regarded as probably the best list manager in the entire AFL bar none - we’ve seen evidence of this for over a decade. And here we are thinking he wasn’t on board with getting TT and Hopper and it’s all Dimma’s fault.

When we got them we’d just lost an EF by a point. We’d spent the second half of that season getting belted in clearances, and had an ageing clearance group in Cotchin, Prestia, Martin and Edwards, with failed ‘clearance’ recruits like RCD or debatable ones like Jack Ross and Dow.

The club needed midfield bulls really badly. TT has been a terrific recruit. He’s paying the price for not having the complimentary players around him right now … he will have them later this year and in future years.

Dunkley is slow and an average kick and is brilliant for the Lions with McCluggage, Ashcroft and Bailey to feed the ball out to.

Tom Green the same … but he has Callaghan, Kelly and friends around him.

And how’s Matt Crouch looking now compared to a few years ago? He looks a
million bucks with Rankine and Soligo joining the midfield party.

So I’ll judge the midfield balance that includes TT and Hopper from 2026 onwards. That might mean one playing occasional VFL. I think right now everyone is panicking that they’ll both be CBA staples for another 5-years each just because they’re contracted.

FWIW… their salaries from 2026 onwards won’t be that much above average wage. At around $750k each there’ll be 100+ players earning more than them for the last 3-4 years of their contracts.

But I’m sure they will be critical players as part of what will be a successful midfield group in a successful team from hopefully 2027 and beyond.

I'm going to give going to the footy a miss for a little while. Need to look after myself mentally regards the situation with my mum in the nursing home late stage dementia in palliative care. Mums had a wonderful life.
Me and the Mrs need some quite time on weekends and me sitting in a loud footy crowd environment probably not a great idea at the moment. Love you Tiges.
All the best to you Struggletown and your family.
Look after your dear mum.
Love and best wishes.

Sure, but he offers no presence or fight in the contest. Too many times has he not put pressure on and stayed out of the contest. If Amstrong could do it for the first 2 games and Fawcett did it in his first, then Bauer needs to do it consistently.

Yep fair points
He is a bit timid for sure
Needs to work on it
Can’t write him off just yet though

I think hunger for the contest is something that really can't be taught or trained. There is an instinct to want to get in there and go for it that I just don't think he will develop. I mean Armstrong didn't take a backwards step round 1 and Fawcett had a bit of go in him. I would rather pursue those young forwards that could grow into power forwards than a Home Brand Jeremy Finlayson.

Meehan was a disaster year 1. Exposed the disastrous lack of KPFs depth Lynch 4 games having let CJ & Chol move on. Having to play Miller & Pickett at tall forwards. Ageing Jack R.
I reckon JVR would've plugged the KPF gap. maybe enough for Dimma to not quit.

The club leaving Meehan in charge was a shocker. Year 2 worst injury list ever.

Gale complicated new grandstands ~ digital bricks & new job offer.

Were the shockers.

Taranto B&F in year 1, but can play forward very well. Yze has stubborn selection ideas. Dow has triggered an extension clause ~ Kmac

We lost Baker, Bolton, Graham, Martin.. 4 half forward mids. We need to replace Baker, Bolton zip badly.

Rapt with the first half, and but for a few unforced errors would have been in front.
Pressure was great, run was good.
2nd half the energy just disappeared after the saints kicked away. Very disappointing.
It was clear to me we lacked speed bouncing off half back. Remember the glory years when we’d run in waves thru the guts? Jeez we could use a Bachar or Rioli. There were a few times when you could see we tried to slow the game down. Didn’t work for long.
Bauer needs to take a few grabs or back to the 2s. Same with Harry.
Persist with Sonsie, Dow.
Trainor had the look of a player at the level. And I’d like to see the ball in Browns hands more across half forward. Elite kick.
And sitting at ground level you can hear the smacking of bodies in the contest…2 blokes taking it all, Hopper and Taranto. I don’t want our kids in there yet.
McAuliffe in, Green maybe misses, but Mansell out anyway. His shoulder looked cooked anyway. When Lalor kicked to him in Q3 he barely raised his arm.

**** some of you campaigners are impatient.

Hugo straight in - no game time to warm up
Smillie straight in- no games at all

Just ****in relax you campaigners, you are making me antsy with this BS

I am guessing this week is millars last game for a while.

Balta will come straight back in for the game against the shockers of freo

(I have also just realised that game conflicts with my daughters 50th so will miss)
