Edwards kicked a nice goal but his disposal was poor all night and he just looks painfully slow all of a sudden and lost a number of one on ones. He's a shadow of his former self this season. Think we need Judson and MRJs speed V the cats more than Edwards' experience.

No need for Soldo V a ruckman-less Cats IMO.
Edwards had some horrible moments but was involved a lot late.

Still a very good player just not anywhere near his best.

Still well ahead of a kid who went missing for large chunks of the game.

Soldo has to play, don’t be fooled by the cats only having Stanley. Blicavs been solid in there and we will get killed with Jack as second ruck and please Dimma don’t go back to Pickett as the 2nd ruck.
Think we will need the extra ruck to push back as well, Hawkins is known to kick goals from stoppages and it would be a mistake to use a back against him in those situations

Reckon we are going to have to manage the players from here on in.
At the ground it was totally obvious that Carlton were going to have all the momentum at the end.
Don’t underestimate our great starts, the lads are running themselves into the ground literally to get ourselves into that position and last night from during the third quarter onwards Edwards, Cotchin, Lambert, Graham and Prestia were really stuffed at times when they were transitioning play and the boys were really stuffed trying to go from contest to contest.
They tried their guts out but it was so obvious and alarming too, Graham in particular was at times almost spent he was working so bloody hard!
It also exposes them to soft tissue injuries particularly Lambert and Prestia.
One a side note Marlion Pickett is a bloody freak in this department and is showing that starting at this elite level at an older age is holding him in good stead.
It’s the way we play and it’s getting us up and on early in games but geez it’s taking it out of some them.
Perfect summation there RD. We show signs that we are almost there, only for our condition to give out at stages. In saying condition, I don't think it's our conditioning, but just father time catching up with some.

Is it just me or is MRJ not quite as quick as you'd want? He gets to a decent top speed but never seems to really explode away.
I think he’s more the opposite, his top end isn’t as high as others but his first 5 - 10 meters he’s super quick

Super amount of closing speed that oppo players mis judge because they think they are kicking to a free man but MJ closes that gap so quick and turns it into a contested ball

Just age you reckon? We used to be able to pressure all over the ground.

With that said, I feel like at our best we made the ground look smaller, so our mids and forwards only had to work so hard to pressure in certain parts of the ground. Is that because our forward pressure isn't as good, meaning it comes out more easily? And/or is it because our defence isn't as well set up? We used to play that deep goalkeeper, Rance used to roam behind, then Grimes, now it doesn't seem like we do it anymore?

Might be a combination of everything but it really stands out in recent times.
They give every last effort though I’ll give them that

Went back to the replay to work out what incensed Cripps so much to make him point Dion out like he was a dodgy bastard then tried to rough him up. Have lost a lot respect for Cripps after establishing that he was totally out of line for going after Dion and trying to undermine his character. All Dion did was give him a gentle push, Cripps went down and slid across knee or elbow of his teammate which caused a knock to his head. To pin this on Dion was farcical. Given anyone of right mind could see it wasn’t intentional, only reason I can put it down to is frustration that they couldn’t match it with us and his best midfield in the comp was being smashed, mostly by Dion who was best on

One of the concerning things about the team at the moment is how after a good first half where we lead teams by 5+ goals we fade away to lose games or almost lose games.

We lost against Carlton (Rd1), Saints and Sydney in such away and almost lost to Carlton tonight and Port last week (Granted it was a 26 point lead against Port). Why is this the case? Are the players unfit? Are they not mentally switched on for the whole game?
Same as last year but thankfully this year the effort last longer than 15 minutes.

Yeah, probably just age then. Would be curious to see the kind of KMs being covered by guys like Cotchin, Edwards these days compared to before. Even Clarke and Ralph compared to George.
Not sure because Jack Graham isn’t old but having said that he has a ridiculously high workrate.
I’ve watched him specifically one game and it was absurd. Just doesn’t stop.

100%

This has been going for 2 years between these two. It isn't the first time it has happened.

Cancer is a terrible thing, but it doesn't just happen to great people.
Not sure you can read much into Docherty's personality just because of the way Bolton showed him the ball. At the time Docherty had a smile on his face which I thought was pretty generous and just part of footy. A bit like when Stack acknowledged Betts after doing him, just part of the game.
