What a load of sh*t.

When Dimma started we were beyond trash. He cleared out 20-30 players in his first 2 years.
We lost our first 9 games under him by and average of 50 points.

He got us to 5th on the ladder in year 4 after staring from nothing.
No s**t just a balanced view rather than the blatant hero worship that goes on around here.

And yet by the end of 2016 we we finished 13th losing 5 of the last six games by an average of 56.8 points which included absolute thrashings of 113 88 and 70 points.

At the end of that yr Hardwicks 7th yr we had a massive clean out of coaches and staff with only really Harwick surviving. Surviving id say by the skin of his teeth.
A new head of footy the demotion of the head recruiter the clean out of coaches and footy dept a significant board challenge demanding we focus on the footy dept. All on the back of an independent footy review bought on by massive discontent and poor onfield performances.

A total new way of playing in 2017 literally a total different way to the way we were going about it and you think it was all Hardwick lmfao.

For once and it is a rarity, i tend to agree with Rayzor. Hardwick was kept because he had the backing of the players. He also had the good sense to acknowledge that things had to change and what he was doing was not going to take us anywhere.
To me and it really is pretty easy to see what happened this is where figures like Caracella Balme and others came to the fore.
FFS give em the credit they deserve, as others have said it is not all down to one person but a collective but you can see the clear imprint in certain areas that was left by individuals.

You mention 2013 yr 4, we finished 5th home and away, 6th for the season and never looked capable of winning a final and it was proven by the insipid way they went in the elimination final getting rolled by the 9th placed team yet blokes like you were hanging their hat on losses like that.We wouldnt win a final until 2017 and did not look like it till then.

Its like some expected us to go from nothing to premiers instantly.

It was always going to be a long road. People also forget we were rebuilding during the GC-GWS concession pick years, it was a lot harder for us.

Hardwick did very well to get us to at least finals standard despite the average list we had.
To be completely honest, I didn't think I would see a Premiership under Hardwick.

Too many years of pain had my confidence shot and although I hoped I would one day see one, hope was all it was.

Is any team success only because of the head coach?

Great win boys!!! Thoroughly enjoyed watching us play the Richmond way. As sh*t as we’ve been all year, trust Shemons to be shitter than us 😂

Injuries suck but we proved we could do it last year. Bolton an obvious replacement for Edwards.
Ross in for Prestia.
Graham in for Cotch.
Might surprise a few if they actually play in the midfield!! Lol

Egg/Stack for Houli?

The media are seriously morons. Maybe if they weren’t so hung up on being “first” or calling for coaches heads they might know a thing about the actual footy.

Houlis replacement from last year replaces him again in left field decision.... wtf they smokin.

A balanced view? Rightttttt.

You said it's widely acknowledged that Carecellas gameplay is what the end the club around. That's beyond false.
What actually turned the club around was the culture changed which was initiated by Dimma and Cotch.
Mate, maybe you should read the book that documented all this pretty heavily.

Yeh we had a s**t year in 2016. So? He acknowledged what the problems were and then came back and changed them.
Your are completely ignoring where we came from at the start of 2010. Worst team since Fitzroy? Wooden spoon bets paid out by round 6?
We went from that to 5th on the ladder by his 4th season.

Look at Carlton. How long have they taken with their rebuild? Dimma had us improve more than that half way through his first season. We went from lost 9 in a row by an average of 50 to winning 5 of 6 including a top 4 team.

Yes we still had the last of performing in finals. But the culture change lead to the game plan change which led us to the club we are now. That was not Carecella. That was Dimma.

Also Carecella is a midfield coach. I think you overestimate how much influence he has on the full gameplan. Has a midfield coach ever been credited for the main guy to turn a team around.

FFS give Dimma the credit. No ones saying Carecella and Balme had no impact, they had a huge impact. But not more than Dimma.
