How to you even propose to get someone like that though?![]()
Rendell would get to run the ship again and that would have to have some appeal. Collingwood is not going to offer him an equivalent job (pay might be similar). I would be selling the ability to be the boss in this situation adn pick up a team that should be not that far away.
In his interview on Footy Classified during Mifsudgate, he said he was burned out on recruitment. Hope he has found the love again.

Given he has been at Collingwood for a while in a recruiting role I would suggest he has:
Matthew Rendell - Senior National Recruiting Assistant
One might say he has one of the easiest list manager roles in the league when taking the concessions GC were given into account.Would Scott Clayton ever think of coming back to Brisbane he's just down the road at Gold Coast and is doing a great job
True but he's still done a great job with what he's had his disposal. One might say he has one of the easiest list manager roles in the league when taking the concessions GC were given into account.
I've given up on this kind of situation becoming a reality acu. I think we're going to have to rely on having enough good luck to unearth a relatively unknown gem instead.
I don't find that strange. There is a heap of stuff that you won't find on the Lions website. (Unfortunately). As a side note I went to the clubs site looking for the staffing structure/positions and there's nothing there. There is the board of directors info and the main coaching group and thats it. No list of any other positions and who holds them. You go through the other clubs sites (i tested the pies, carlton, dons, GC) and there is pretty much a full list of everyone in the club and their position. Just find it strange that there is nothing similar on our site and now I'm wondering why?
Did we not do that at the end of last year, and have it dangled over our heads with the threat of withdrawal if the board ructions continued? We can't afford an unknown quantity in this role. Let's say the Hawks pay Graham Wright 250k a year. This is where we need to headhunt and offer 400k. We also need to be making it clear to the AFL that our only way forward is through recruiting and development and we need a cash injection from the AFL to help us get out of this mess.
It is time to go to the AFL on our knees begging!
He'd have a great reputation if he takes our list, that according to the Melbourne-centrics is miles off, and turns it into a premiership contender relatively soon. Huge amount of salary cap to play with too. Lots of freedom.Rendell would get to run the ship again and that would have to have some appeal. One of the most overrated in the game imo. Even at the GC he only managed to hit the obvious prospects.
Ok cool was just bringing up a name I thought could work for us. The last time he was our recruiter worked pretty well for usOne of the most overrated in the game imo. Even the GC he only managed to hit the obvious prospects.
The AFL don't really care about us, if we're doing well it's a bonus for them, otherwise they don't bother and are focusing on other issues. I can't see them helping us out here.
