PORT Adelaide star Robbie Gray was among a group of current recruiters and AFL club officials to take part in a certificate in list management last week.

The course, which is run by AFL SportsReady and the AFL Coaches Association, saw participants meet at Victoria Park for a day-long seminar before a workshop. It is built for aspiring recruiters and coaches to gain a stronger understanding into the wheeling and dealing of AFL list managers.

Mmmm so that is his area of intetest. Explains Ken’s comments on Robbie wanting the club to get Butters?
Obviously doing his homework.

Will be interesting to see Robbie and Butters play in the Forward Line together next year. We have incumbents in 20/22 positions but there are a few vacancies in the forwards. Robbie wanted Butters. Hopefully, he takes him under his wing.

Perfect succession plan. 3 years or so with Robbie first though.

looking at it simply, it's exciting having someone of Robbie's footy intelligence (through the roof) and knowing they want to pair that with the education required to be able to put his skills to use in an AFL system, hopefully with our list down the line. he could have a grand vision for the club already, growing on this list for a decade and seeing its ups and downs.

Would be happy to see him take over from Cripps as I think he's run his race but probably not a good idea to get someone whose close to the current crop for a position like that.

Confirming on 7 news tonight he wants to do the job into the future. Watch out Cripps, If you cant do tricky s**t Robie wont draft you kids.

He has been to a couple of meetings and is going to the draft tomorrow night to help Parker and co. out.

Starts at 0.21 and 3rd story in.

don’t mind that, we need more skilful players more than anything

He’ll need to cut his teeth as a defenders coach whose primary pre-game warm-up drill involves lay-up lines featuring the art of uncontested double-fisted spoiling first.
