News Robbie Gray in recruiting and list management role

It sucks we never got to send off Warren in this way. Peter B & Lade had a loss in the rain against norf in front of 17k at FP.

This is by far the best send off we've had at AFL level. The messages and comments seen across social media platforms from opposition fans says it all, nothing we didn't know of course.

Hinkley on AA reiterated that there will be a role for Robbie at Port. They have been discussing for awhile how this will look, so not revealed yet.

If what is said is true and he is moving back to Victoria then it makes some sense he joins the list management team given they are based in Melbourne.

He didn't say anything about Robbie moving back to Victoria and this influencing the role. I have read that here, so assumed it is happening.

We did send Dimma off with a premiership.

He led the TAC Cup goalkicking in his draft year so its not like he struggled to find it. But, he was essentially a very short full forward at that stage who from memory didnt get much/any midfield time and was considered limited because of it.

I find that astounding really. From day dot in the AFL he’s looked at home and was comfortably at the same level as others athletically etc.

I know recruiting isn’t a perfect science, this is a great example. Dan Houston is another, looked a cut above from his first game at the Maggies

Recruiting has come a long way in 15 years and the game has changed but it would be interesting to see where a young RG would land on the draft table in 2022.

Is this true? Didn't he have to beg the coaches to switch him to defence after struggling forward (his pre-draft position)?

You could be right mate. Has always looked an AFL footballer though, definitely staggering to think he was the 145th pick given pick 45 in the rookie draft!

He's a smart guy Dimma, but man hasn't he been kissed on the dick with timing in this playing and coaching careers.
He did the hard yards at Richmond before they went on a flag run, a club with 30 plus years of ingrained failure at the time..

No kiss on the dick there, the guy is a winner pure and simple.

Yeah fair, that comment only reasonably applies to his playing career.

Having a generational player like Dusty at your disposal is a fair old kiss on the dick but he did develop a system that worked.

Massive.

That's great news.

Did Robbie go back to Melbourne? That's where Cripps is based so it's perfect for him if he did.
