Rumour Robbie Williams AFL grand final entertainment

So how do we all feel about Robbie performing GF day? We're all ok with him performing his award winning track 'let me entertain you?' I reckon Imma put my fingers in my ears and lalalalala my way through it. I reckon we should go with Joe Satriani to surf with the alien and that man.. Kenny G.. perhaps.

I'd argue all that counts for naught. I'd also look for a local performer wherever possible but if it is determined that a big international name is the go I'd be looking for broad generational appeal (tick), easy songs for people to get out of their seats and sing along to (tick) and a performer who knows how to put on a show and will probably be as good a bet as anyone to get a tough crowd involved (tick).

Of course it's all for naught. I honestly don't care. The last Grand Final I attended, a studiously ignored Ed Sheeran - I was more interested in standing in a queue buying essential beer supplies for the game ahead.

Like it or not, the Grand Final is the one day that non-footy fans tune in (and attend), and as the biggest footballing day of the year, it should have a light-and-sound show. Shouting “just play the game” works well for the club diehards on BigFooty, but it’s not going to happen.

Agree completely that it should be an Australian artist. The problem is that - with the lack of radio support for local music - this means either a band that 80% of the crowd won’t know, or some washed up has been who last had success in the early 2000s.

Listen, I enjoy a bit of "Let Me Entertain You" as much as the next bloke - but Robbie Williams headlining the AFL Grand Final would be the lamest s**t ever

Is this now the grand final entertainment request thread?

If so, viagra boys:

He is desperate for cash.

s**t radio ads

Did a gig last week for some s**t loan sharks in Melbourne.

Dude will do anything for cash and can't get a gig outside Australia.

I was at that gig. He was brilliant. Possibly the best live performance I've seen ... and I've seen plenty.

Most of the GF performances have been uninspiring. Ed Sheeran ... FFS!! Best one was Hunters & Collectors.

Having said that, I'm old, so perhaps my opinion doesn't count?
