No Bombers is more than fair, though id say we’d have a few in the 51-100 range such is the nature of our list

Zach Merrett is consistently underrated for the impact he has on our team - a team that made the finals. While I admit that our team lacks the influence of bona fide stars, Merrett, Saad and Shiel could all be considered unlucky not to sneak in and a fit again Hurley warrants consideration (Joe is the one we want in the top 10 of course). Saad is the best small defender in the comp for his balance of offence/defence but for whatever reason has not been given the recognition yet (perhaps the Vic game gave a glimpse to the ignorant out there).

It’s a reflection of our general mediocrity for so long that we can’t get players widely acknowledged as elite in the comp but I’d still find a spot for Zach and possibly Saad in the 40-50 region.

Fair enough points but consider it this way.

50 players / 18 teams = about 3 players per team. Any more and you’re above average, less and you’re below. Essendon are around an average side so having 2-3 players in there is possible - likely Daniher and Zerrett with maybe a Shiel or Saad. In saying that, you have to consider the quality of some other teams. Richmond, GWS, Pies, Geelong, WC all have claims to have potentially 5-6 players in the top 50, which doesn’t leave much for the other 13 teams.

It’s obviously a hypothetical and difficult exercise, but when you average it out, if you have 3 players in there you’re over-represented league-wide.

Wouldn’t have Bontempelli in top 5 let alone number 1. Toby Greene is top 5 and Coniglio top ten.
And who TF is Rowan Marshall and when the hell did he become the 26th best player in the AFL???

One of his better lists. Sicily and Naughton the only two out of place.

And Hawks B&F winner Worpell didn't even get a look into the top 50.
