Opinion Robbo Top 50

Petracca doesn’t belong on this list. Although Buddy is the biggest mare!

The whole premise of a future based outcome is stupid. I always thought it was there current standing heading into rd. 1

Greene at 40 is the biggest mare. If he's not in the top 10....

Petracca is a howler though, and how is Dunkley below him lol

Then the list is all over the place. It's like he's taken a bet both ways with this list.
How can he possibly think Buddy at his age and now with his injury record in recent times can possibly be in the top 10 by years end.

He’s one of the all time greats, but he’s definitely slowing down.

Petracca shouldn't be on the list... yet. I'm not sure that Franklin should be that high at the moment too.

Other than that, one of his better top 50's. I would have Fyfe, Martin and Cripps before Bont, but not by much.

Agree. Franklin shouldn't be there, or at least put him in the 40-50 range not in the teens!

Naughton will be a good player in the future but he should be no where near this list

I can sort of see where he's coming from with this one. It's a better throw at the the stumps than Petraaca! Has he seriously put him on a list of a pre season trial performance lol

Petracca is a **** tease.

If he plays to his potential (ie. the first practice match) and the list is based on potential then put him in the top 10, he’s that sort of talent. He’s going to be a player that is either a top 10 footballer or just another bog average 20 disposal, goal a game half forward which is all he is right now.

It will all depend whether he can transform himself into a genuine mid. I'm far from sold, and I'm not going to rate someone off a pre season game that no one cares about. Very easy for players to look good.

Robbo is such an idiot for so many reasons, but this list continues to get worse year and year.

I couldn't look much further than the logic behind Nat Fyfe.

2019 Ranking: No. 2 Nat Fyfe

Win's 2019 Brownlow (2nd in career)

2020 Ranking: No. 3 Nat Fyfe

How do you slip after dominating and winning your 2nd Brownlow?

Same goes for Charlie Cameron.. A Career year and then slides by 20 odd picks.

guessing he put tracca on cause he probably has him in his supercoach team lol

He's probably 40 beers deep by the time he got to Petraaca...well that's my thinking anyway!

I saw Tim Kelly dropped 8 spots too lol...didn't he come 3rd in the Brownlow or something!

To take bias out of it, the tigers in this are in the wrong spot relative to each other, so I can only imagine the rest of it is wrong too.

Its Robbo...what do you think. The only thing he's got right are the top 5. However, any bloke down at the pub could get those 5 right!

Ironic from someone that posts on a footy forum.
Not sure you know what that word means.

Do you not make countless predictions here too? I'd wager in most threads you are posting with a dash of rank speculation, as we all are when asked to predict a match, the top 8, premiers, etc.
I wouldn't imagine those are worth a double page spread to be chewed over by readers. In fact, I'd say most of those predictions are of zero interest to most other people. Nor do such predictions account for more than a tiny fraction of my posts.

The significance, interest and newsworthiness conferred upon Robbo's speculative doodling is just silly.

Most preseasons, various outlets will also poll their writers to predict those other outcomes i.e. premier, top 8, Brownlow, Coleman etc. Does anyone spend more than 5 minutes looking at the answers to those questions? I certainly can't imagine anyone digesting them and poring over them and debating them. Oooh but Nathan Schmook tipped Tom Hawkins to win the Coleman! Gee whizz, Mick Warner has Port as the top 8 bolter! It's one person's take on what might happen. Who cares? Move on. Same with Robbo's imagination list.

Will you start a thread and spend hours discussing this?

I like that he's putting it out there and we/he/the public can assess how his prediction went at end of year.
Putting it out there? Surely that goes with the territory when you write for a newspaper. There's no point keeping it to yourself. That's not really what the job entails.

That aside, what's to assess? It's a work of imagination. By the end of the year, most of it won't work out. Who cares?

Besides, people aren't waiting until the end of the year. They're assessing it now, which makes even less sense.

How can anyone be too high or too low in this list when it's based entirely on Robbo's projections of what might or could happen?

He could put Lynden Dunn in there and say "I reckon he's due for a big year" and there'd be no real basis for disagreement. It's not falsifiable and therefore it's silly.

I understand it's a predictive list, but no way will Lynch be worthy of that no.8 imo.

I'd have Charlie Cameron there (Who he has at #35) over Lynch.

I'd have Lynch and Riewoldt in the 30-50 range personally.

Franklin shouldn't be in it, he barely played last year and isn't fit this year, at 33 yrs old.
Kicked 63 goals last year on the back of having little to no real preseason coming into the season and effectively was the reason Richmond remained in contention during the first half of the year. This year he is coming off a full preseason and has a greater understanding of the Richmond game plan. If he stays fit there is every chance he wins the Coleman and helps lead Richmond to a possible 2nd successive premiership. Cameron is coming off a career year which was mighty impressive, but is going to take something just as impressive to back it up and if he does I'd expect he is ranked much higher in the season ending list.

Anyone else think Lachie Whitfield is vastly overrated?
If there’s an overrated Giants mid it’s Coniglio. Fine player but blimey, the buzz for that guy is extraordinary. Can really burn a disposal.

Should be a requirement for those who criticise lists like this to then submit their own for the same sort of criticism. It's Robbos opinion on what he thinks will unfold in 2020. At seasons end he then self criticises his initial rankings and admits where they are wrong.

He also led or near led the Coleman after about rnd 5 whilst playing like complete dog shit.

His first 4-5 weeks were ordinary, but was still kicking goals.

Goals aren't the be all and end all for him.

A requirement.
