Opinion Robbo Top 50

Marshall is a young ruckman from St Kilda who caught a lot of people's eyes in the latter half of last season, including one game against Geelong where he pretty much single handedly matched our team for a half. It's a big call but not unreasonable to predict he will really make a name for himself this year. Proper big ruckman who can also mark, kick goals and has good football instincts.
Marshall went very well for most of the year, but so well in the second half of it that he was ranked no.1 in the comp in the Official AFL Player Ratings from round 11 onwards.

Still learning the rucking caper (trained and played almost exclusively forward in his first two years with us, and played CHB for much of his draft year), so wasn't great at the hitouts side of things, but basically became a "200cm mid" once the ruck contest had taken place.

Having Ryder there to teach him better ruck craft ought to do wonders for him.

Prestia was in the top 20 last year, then goes out and wins a bnf in a premiership year and gets demoted haha.and Bont over dusty please, gets a tag and goes missing. and Dusty just gets the job done when it counts
In saying that Riewoldt to high and maybe lynch also a tad high

Actually JDG is about right, he needs time on the park to prove so. Potentially yes a lot higher probably in the 10 - 20 bracket.

Agree on the rest particularly Bud, and Oliver like JDG needs to prove potential.
Oliver's an AA and a two time BNF winner, also placed 2nd aswell inbetween the wins. Not sure he has to prove much at all.

De Boer did a job on Bont, name the other games last year where he went missing.
It doesn't even matter. It's a prediction of what will be by the end of this upcoming season.

Given that Bont has only just turned 24yo, it's hardly a stretch to suggest that he might take his game up a level or two this year.

Like hundreds if not thousands of others have at a similar age in their careers before him. (Dusty himself at that age for instance went from 13 Brownlow votes the previous year to 21).

Especially if he happens to be injury free and fully fit for what may be the first time in a while.

Lmao. De Boer wiped the floor with Martin aswell, does that make Martin overrated

The Petracca prediction won't be outrageous at all if he continues to play anything like he did in Marsh 1:

38 disposals (@74% eff)
27 contested possessions!
3 goals
12 score-involvements
9 inside-50's
8 clearances
7 tackles
3 contested marks
644m-gained

Ridiculous game of footy.
Thing is with Trac is there is no way he's in the top 50 current AFL players, then if you're projecting I'm sure supporters from other clubs could throw up names like Heeney, SPP, Rozee, Milera, Curnow, Thomas etc.

Players who aren't there yet but have potential to hit the top.

LOL at Tom Lynch being like 3 times higher then Ben Brown.

Ben Brown literally has better stats than this guy in every single stat.
Ben Brown is a one dimensional lead up marking forward. He’s rightfully rated by Robbo.

Did you see Tom Lynch’s back half of the year when he was at full fitness? Brown could never produce such high quality football.

There are very few clubs that wouldn't have him in their 2 most important players if he played for them, so yeah, 32 works.

Leadership and the ability to influence games matter more than a few extra stats.
I’d like to hear what clubs you think Cotchin would be top 2 at.

Richmond have atleast 5 ahead of Cotchin, West Coast anywhere from 3-5, GWS the same. 30 doesn’t add up.

You seem offended that Robbo (and plenty of others) can see Sicily for the star that he is.

I suppose that is your problem.

hmmm this is what I posted about Sicily

Sicily is too high based on last year, but given hawks are trying to find key backs so he can play as third tall, lose man, he should carve up this year. Don’t like him and his punch able face but the boy can play

Sicily is a better intercept mark than Hurn and a much better kick than the other three and close to the equal of Hurn.

I actually doubt you have seen the guy play. Get back to me when you do.
I was simply pointing out that hurn puts up similar intercept numbers, despite playing alongside the best intercepter I the game in McGovern

Bont best in the game..hmmm
From a Sydney viewpoint IF Buddy can stay fit that justifies his position, maybe a touch higher. Surprised at the omission of Papley , showed in the SOO he is among the top 50 easily.

Haynes, Hurn and Moore match him in that sense, Stewart a lightly worse kick but a better defender. Sicily really isn’t that unique.
Hurn is the only one of those players even close to Sicily in terms of being both an elite intercept mark and a deadly ball user.

Nick Haynes is a gun, if you haven't watched him that's on you

Did not say that....get that chip off your shoulder, not our fault you did not pick Dusty.
Yah glad to know it's not your fault I wasn't the recruiter, real weight off my shoulders 👌

I wonder how Richmond with such a mediocre list (according to Nuffies on BF) manage to win Premierships.Damien must be a miracle worker.
Meanwhile according to Richmond fans 1981 - 2016 & 2018 never happened and Richmond are the bestest and most dominant club in the past 30 years.

There are precisely zero defenders in this league who have both the intercept ability AND the elite kicking that Sicily has.

He intercepts opposing kicks and kills you the other way.
Shannon Hurn says hi! Also the best launch of attack is Mr. Jetta....

I know he is, but he simply doesn't compare in terms of being a lethal ball user. He's a lockdown/intercepting defender, not a rebounding defender who tears teams apart with his kicking.

Sicily doesn't 'tear teams apart'

Ridiculous game of footy.

It's pre season. The amount of times we see players have great games in the pre season...when the opposition doesn't give a hoot about defence. Should be nowhere near the list. Lets see him d it in the real season at least once. That's taking an almighty Hail Mary.
