- Rance is not the 2nd best player in the AFL...
- Kade Simpson is not in the top 50...
- Enright at 26? Really?
- I dont think Cripps had that great a 2016
- McGovern too high, as is Sheil
- I give up on Cyril... Mediocre 2016

- Lachie Hunter pretty stiff
- Laird pretty stiff too
- Treloar and Pendles straight swap

Tarrant should be higher. Not sure how Dale Morris and Steven May are ahead of him when Tarrant made AA 40 man squad

I think playing well in finals should be looked at with more importance than just consistency over the H&A season. No issues with Picken being in there for this season. He was massive for the Dogs in the finals.

Yeah I see your point. Important where it matters. Still wouldn't put him there myself though.

Can I go out on a limb and guess you believe Michael Hurley to be the best in the league?

I didn't say Rance wasn't the best in the league? I said he wasn't clearly the best.

I'd actually say for his consistency over the past 3 seasons only really rivalled by Talia who doesn't have the rebounding ability of the other top defenders Rance does deserve the mantle of best defender in the comp.

I don't however agree with the excessive hype that the media runs with having him head and shoulders above the likes of Mcgovern, Hurley, Talia and co.

I thought it was a pretty good list overall. None of the selections were completely unreasonable. Some of the changes I would make are:
A bit lower: Rance (Key defender is so much easier to play than forward should be around bottom of the top 10), Zac Merett/ Cripps (probably both about 5-10 spots too high). Players like Treloar, Mitchell, Jack Stevens were better in my opinion.
A bit higher: Sloane, Jack Stevens and Dahlhaus.

All subjective though. There's not a big difference between the midfielders ranked 10-25 in the comp.
Bunk Moreland - looks like one of your own does as well.

All Australian, Top 10 in Brownlow, B & F in a premiership team. If he's not top 10 you have ridiculously high standards.
He's an awesome player, but I think Martin, Neale, Merrett, and Kennedy all have a fair argument for being a place or two above him.

What does it matter now anyway, barring injury he'll probably be the best player in the league for the next ten years or so

You're entitled to your opinion.
He is currently being held in the same regard as Scarlett. Definitely the best defender I have ever seen at Richmond. Although it's not a big sample size due to only being 26. Many long time Richmond people have him as the best they have seen as well.
Top 5 in the league overall I think is fair. Two maybe slightly high.

Neale and Merrett :drunk:
Ok, maybe not those two. IMO they had pretty underrated seasons in horrendously shit teams though.

Kennedy & Martin I'm pretty sure had seasons as good if not better than Bont, and Gawn being the #1 player in his position probably should be Top 10 but then I"m probably a little bias :D

These lists are always interesting to look at and to see how they compare players to what the AFL consider their official player ranking and those of SuperCoach/Dreamteam etc.

For example: Robbie Gray is rated number 2 in the AFL Players Ratings (although this looks at the previous 44 games or something rather than just the last season) and he is ranked at =17 in super coach (based on average rather than total) and is ranked 44 in AFL fantasy (when you remove players who couldn't make a top 50 for the season due to playing only a couple of games). Yobbo has him at 19 in his 50, which based on season output may be about right, but just shows how depending on what you look at the rankings can change dramatically.

What on earth is the media's fixation with Rance? There is a very good argument that Tarrant was better than him this year. If you want to name Rance in AA over Tarrant, alright, that's your opinion. But #2?? Are you kidding me?

To be fair he pretty much is top 2-5 in the league. Robbie Tarrant didn't even make the AA team.
