If the ramifications of this current administration’s mind-boggling lunacy only impacted negatively on Americans I’d say “oh well, serves you right, suckers”.

But after a century of claiming (with much justification) to be the leader of the world in science, and worked themselves into a position of global dominance, it’s really not helpful to the welfare of the world for America to suddenly turn around and say “actually, we’re just going to be really stupid now”.
