Went and listened to him speak last night at a function and no surprise he is a top bloke.

Appeared to enjoy himself and chatted and mingled with the crowd of 200+ well after his speaking had finished.

Touched on a couple of Carlton things but nothing startling:

1) Believes out of the three #1 picks Kreuzer would be the best pick as eventual captain.

2) Spoke about what he a Juddy talk about when Juddy comes to the bench....basically as you would expect he is mainly gettting Juddy's point of view on how he sees some of the match ups when he is out on the field.

3) Spends all his time with players 3 years or under and he feels our young guys are on the rise.

4) Was very coy when asked about Fev but I got the feeling he felt Fev might be better traded as he has had similar experiences with Lockett and Hall, who over the years haven't always put the team first.

As I mentioned before nothing huge but thought I would share.

After last night I now respect Harvs even more, and really is a down to earth guy :thumbsu:

Thanks Harvs

Harvs has always been, in my experience, the most ripping, down-to-earth, honest, straight up-and-down bloke going around. He LOVES football.

I don't know whether he's going to be a great coach - mainly because I don't know if you can teach what made him great (utter devotion to the game, pushing himself way beyond reasonable limits). But there's no doubting he'll give it his all and is a great bloke.

If he said that in 'public' they're pretty damning words, considering how much supporters love Fev.

I wonder what happens next week against the saints
if he gives inside info on them so we can finally beat them
i believe he is a diamond for us onya harvs.

You really have to identify talent much younger these days.

How many premierships did the Saints end up with from trading Lockett and Hall? Sydney got 3 GF's and a flag out of those trades.

Seems we still have work to do to on Harvey's St Kilda deprogramming if your feelings are correct.

You make a good point. Added to this, St Kilda's trading of Lockett was made easier by the fact they had Stewie Loewe ready to fill the breach & the trading of Barry Hall was a no-brainer given they had picked up Riewoldt & Kosi in the 2000 draft & had traded for Gehrig.

If we had a ready made forward, or a couple of extremely promising young forwards to step up in Fev's place it is an idea that would at least be explored. Given that outside of Waite we don't have another quality forward to take Fev's place, it would be a massive backward step to trade Fev.

Put a smilie face on there at least cos no-one's gunna get it :thumbsu:
If you have to put a flashing sign on your humour, then there is not a lot of point. I'd much rather one person pick up on the subtleties than a thousand have it explained to them.

What?
