2 quick points.

1. I have a funny feeling bob will be like obi-wan and become even more powerful in his absence. He'll still be hugely influential off-field.

2. unpopular opinion, but I don't think murph was playing that well this year anyway. Certainly nowhere near as well as last year. And we have 19 games to get comfortable playing without him.

Awful news, but all is not lost.

In total agreement Fronk. Love the Obiwan reference too

Carpe diem bob Murphy #OhCaptainMyCaptain

When Libba Snr did his knee he didn't know if he would be there next year, he didn't know when the dogs who hadn't played in a GF since 1961 would have a better shot at making another GF.

fast forward to 2016 and not much has changed, we still haven't made a GF, WE CAN'T KEEP WAITING FOR NEXT SEASON. If anything is going to happen, it needs to happen now and Bob need to do everything in his powers to get back and lead us into the promised land.

Realise all is not lost, in fact they'll hopefully "do it for murph", but it's just so unfair and takes the romance out of our success i reakon.

62 years without a premiership. 54 without a grand final appearance. How much more romance do you need??

Losing murph is an absolute kick in the balls from the footy gods. But it does not take anything away from any success we may have

I'm just wondering when it is our club will catch a god dam break

I want it ALL. Sick of constantly being dealt with something that spoils the BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE! !! (Forgive me, just having a sook, but we deserve the best after all this time)

I hear you. But beggars can't be choosers.

Geelong and Sydney have turned their fortunes around. It's our bloody turn now

Maybe optimistic but looked a twisty medial to me. 6 weeks.

Unfortunately we know it's an ACL. I've done two medials and they are uncomfortable when you do them and then the super pain kicks in a little later. ACL's are immediately super painful and by the looks of Bob that's what happened. A medial would have been good in the context. I just hope we haven't seen the last of Bob, he could keep going if he can get back up from this.

I commented on the train going into the game that it would be fantastic if for once we had some luck against the hawks where everything went right.

2 mns to go, look what happens. Yet again, all the luck went the way of the Poos and Wees side

LB: There's a lot of man love there between Bob and I, selfishly I hope he plays on.

LB: There's obviously an emotional side to this for the players, but there's a raw, clinical side to it that this creates an opportunity.

LB: Easton Wood will step-up, toss the coin and the lead the way, but he has great support around him too within the leadership group.

LB: We'll need to spread the load through that half back role, we've got plenty of good people and stocks to fill that role.

LB: We need to give Bob and his family time to process all this, before the injury he was looking to play on.

    1. LB: [On LARS as an option] That's completely Bob's decision. We'll get all the expert advice for him to make the best decision for him.

@westernbulldogs bob would be a prime candidate for LARS wouldnt he.

  4. LB: We think the scans will probably just be confirmation, but I'm hopeful once it all settles Bob still has a bright future at our Club.

Luke Beveridge will speak to the media at @VUAustralia Whitten Oval shortly. Tweets to follow. #WBMedia

Luke also mentioned the romance of having murph on the field (so i wasn't going overboard).
More importantly however, although i agree with posters who've said we can cover murph physically, what about the leadership? Radio said that murph would give one of the youngsters a smile during the game and that player would lift and carry on. How do we replace all that intangible stuff?
Still pissed off.

Wood will be good, dont stress my friend

Whilst it annoys me that Bob has gone down, and it's frustrating that we don't have a history of the Hawthorns and Geelongs of the world, let's take a step back and reassess, we are way over performing, we pushed the premiers to only a 3 point loss, after conceding the first 5-6 goals of the game. \

We have the third least top 20 picks on our list, yet have one of the best young lists in the AFL, and we have a bloke named Marcus Adams who we didn't even have in our back line last year, who's arguably in AA form, keep in mind last year we had two all Australian backs.

Bob is instrumental in his leadership, but he hasn't had the best year, he's fumbled a bit and has on his own admission had one of his weaker starts to the season, that's not suggesting he isn't in our best 22 because he certainly is, we will however be better for this, as it tests us now.
