Really no need to make decision until a few weeks before
The draft to be honest

I suspect that he will take time to make a decision. There is no need to rush it, and it is perfectly sensible to wait and see how he recovers from the operation. No doubt he will need determine whether he has the drive and determination to continue, and whether it is in the best interests of the club.

I expect a decision in 4-12 weeks, as the club will probably want to know towards the latter part of the season. This will help them with list management etc.

Let's hope he chooses to play on!

His twitter alone since that game has given more than enough clues. I think PC's comments over the weekend will seal the deal. It's just a matter of giving him time before the official duties of re-signing and announcing said re-signing are done. Will be done before finals no doubt.

They just said on 360 that Bob will be on next week, I reckon that might coincide with his decision.

2/2 without him and the wins were against Brisbane and Carlton and we weren't super convincing against Carlton. Yeah I'd say we are starting to struggle.
Think we're more struggling without Murphy, JJ and Suckling more than just one of them.
Give us two back and you'll see less struggling.

Also we're 2 and 1 without Murphy. There was literally 2 minutes left in the Hawks game and he was injured on the game winning play.

Yeah I fully agree. But the point I was trying to make is that I feel that he is more likely to return if it looks like we still need him than if we were doing fine. Whether we are actually struggling because of him or because of the combined injuries being somewhat irrelevant. This is pure speculation though, obviously.

We are missing his leadership onfield, the kids are losing composure which they wouldn't if Bob was out there.

Possibly, but the bigger problem is that as of right now we probably have 24 AFL ready contributors, not the 28 - 30 we all thought we had.

When we miss 5 of our better players that was bound to happen. The top 2 - 3 teams have 25 + AFL ready players, unfortunately we dont at this stage.

Disagree, think we have a bit more than that, take out any teams three players on the same line, and they'll struggle to replace them. We still have solid depth in the midfield in the seconds, and key defenders are plying their trade down there also. We have 10 or so on our injury list currently, with 6 or 7 of them in our best 22. Add that to let's say 20 out of our current 22 that are of decent AFL standard, that gives us 26-28 solid AFL players plus others who can come in and play a role when required. We're doing ok.

Not sure why your so negative about it, its not like that at all.

We put up a massive fight against North, which are an extremely strong side. If we took our chances, we could of won.

Not fair to under estimate the team so much, cheer up

Agreed.

Norf did not "dismantle" us, as M Lloyd and Purple would have us believe.

We were a couple of straight kicks from winning.

Bad kicking is bad football, of course...

Same can be said about the Hawks. If we took the opportunities properly, we would of had the game.

Bulldogs have struggled in the 1st qtr with the tough games, because the boys are too nervous. They are a young team, and experience will help them

Call me a harsh critic but I think we are a little off the very very best sides in terms of depth. However if you add a decent additional tall in our forward line and picked a best 22 I'd argue it's the best in the comp. As I said in another thread we have arguably the best midfield and defence in the game and bloody oath we do very well for a young side with the injuries.

We currently aren't the most even side and that's purely due to age. Had we got a dal santo, Waite, Higgins, to name just a few we would be just as well rounded side as North Melbourne with the luxury of gun young players and more star players. Hence why our future is so much brighter than nearly every single other side in the game. As I have said in another thread we are a tall marking forward away from a grand final appearance. We probably win both games we lost this season if we had one.

I won't lay too much blame at the hands of Bev, I don't think he has been given the key forward depth we require to beat the very best teams. But I am happy to see Redpath in this week I think he plays the role that Stringer has been forced to play far better than Jake does currently.

Plenty of things we have to look forward too. As Gordo stated we should make finals every year for the next ten and we are on track to do so. Young players like Dale, Webb, Collins and Cordy will push that number higher to rounabouts 30 in the coming seasons. But they currently just aren't their yet which is fine.

I'm not totally sure of that, DM16.

If we took Hodge (already gone, I know), Mitchell, Lewis, Puopolo and Gunston out of Hawthorn, would their "depth" cover those losses?

I'd love to see how Norf go without Ziebell, Thompson, Goldstein, Petrie and Waite.

Just picking out 5 top players here, not comparing like-players for us.

Any side that loses 5 of it's most important players is going to look like it lacks depth.
