I'm not totally sure of that, DM16.

If we took Hodge (already gone, I know), Mitchell, Lewis, Puopolo and Gunston out of Hawthorn, would their "depth" cover those losses?

I'd love to see how Norf go without Ziebell, Thompson, Goldstein, Petrie and Waite.

Just picking out 5 top players here, not comparing like-players for us.

When I mean depth I mean forward depth more than anything. Our midfield depth, backline coverage etc has been absolutely outstanding.

Rob was on grandstand a little while ago, and he's still yet to decide what he's doing, some days he wants to some days he doesn't. He's heading away for a few weeks in a couple of weeks where he thinks he will be able to clear the head and decide.

In the end, it will all come down to a new Lego set I reckon. And that to me makes me think he will play on.

Just watched the interview on 360. Bloody hell, he isn't dead. I love the bloke but they overplayed that ridiculously.

I was just thinking, if Bob's main worry is how quickly he can get back to his best then hopefully Libba putting in consistent performances like on the weekend might show him that he can get right back into it pretty quickly. IF he goes on he'd be ripe by 2017 finals I reckon.

Same for Rourke in the two's. Not so much Smith as he's a special case.

Yeah. I heard that Libba did a lot of work with VU regarding the biomechanics of the knee and structural integrity of the knee during rehab. I'd expect that will be pretty standard now for all our guys including Bob. If that kinda stuff can't keep Clay on the park, then i think it's safe to say nothing will unfortunately.

Heard on Triple M that he has been surprised with how quickly he's recovering. That with his last reco it took him a lot longer to feel where he was up to now. Think they said he'll be on the bike soon.

Someone was telling me there's lots of money in retiring due to injury these days. Can't remember the details (at a party, had a couple! ). Although I'm sure if there is someone like Susan Alberti could match it dollar for dollar one would hope.

He's gonna be in a good spot cash wise no matter what. He's done work with the age, abc and fox footy already. He'd walk straight into 400k+ from media jobs if he wanted.

His last acl was terrible. This was a bit more on the normal scale.

And played 10+ years of footy at a decent pay scale. Definitely not the kinda guy that is driven by money either. If his heart is still in it and he has the passion, he goes on. Simple as that.

Yeah i know and i hope you're right. I'm definately not saying he's a money hungry sort of guy at all, just that the compensation is a dangling carrot if he feels a come back may be too much. I don't think he's gonna decide any time soon. I reakon it will either be at the end of the season or during the quiet off season. If he hasn't announced anything by the time they resume next year I'd say he's good to go as long as he's not struggling during preseason. And really, why does he have to say anything until the latter? Just go with the flow until it gets too much (which it may never) and we may see him back without him having announced anything.

There will be an announcement either way before the end of the season. Just relax and let things pan out over the next month or two :)

It all gets put into perspective, really, when you look at Jarred Roughead's fight now. He has had the decision to play football out of his hands by fate. Bob doesn't have to worry about fighting for his life, and gets to choose whether he wants to continue his football career. In his decision making, he could possibly go a couple of ways - retire, because he realises there is more to life than football, or he could think that he needs to make the most of his opportunities, and get as much from his football while he can, on his terms.

Try to image my bleary eyed excitement as I flick on Fox footy at the exact point where I see Bob talking to Robbo & Gerrard about the excitement of about taking the family away for a couple of weeks before 'saddling up' for another pre-season. Only to come to the crushing realisation 30 seconds later after opening both eyes that it was merely a replay of 360 shot during grand final week.
