The Pies are currently in negoatiations with Robert Shaw to take on a role similar to that offered to Rodney Eade last year. They have agreed in principal but are sorting out the details. Not sure when it will be announced.

Essendon people wouldnt be too happy, considering he left looking to advance his career. Leaving a tactician role for another tactician role aint much of a promotion.

But then again, to the contrary, i guess the prospect of leaving windy hill for lexus centre is a promotion not many people can decline :D

Hope not...would hope we would think outside the box a bit more with this role. Pretty much just another failed coach like Balmey.

im not sure mate, i didnt know he was so disliked...
He's unliked by many because they don't actually understand what his job is. Many people actually think he has a say on who we do or don't trade and think he makes some important decisions.

Balme I can sort of understand the angst towards him, he has something to do with trades (although how much we don't know) but the angst towards McKenna is totally stupid. Why do people want him gawn when he was the coach of defence who stood up this year and there is no proof as to how much influence he has and what he is responsible for.

Exactly right jabso. Out defence has been good, even under immense pressure and even given sharp falls in former "regulars" such as Lonie and Johnson.

From an external point of view, Guy has done a good job. And he was a superstar to boot, so why is he under the pump??

I thought Balme was the football Manager.
Judkins the recruiting Manager (now Hine)
Klienman the Welfare Manager

As Football Manager Balme (IMO) has been average. Not abysmal, not fantastic either.

Gotch has got to go. His record of developing youngsters at Williamstown speaks for itself.

Our youngsters seem to go backwards under his tutelage.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think Balmey's role is and where do you think he has failed? His role isn't just whether you like him on the radio or not.

Seems to be his role is to embarrass himself and the club. If i'm not mistaken he plays a part in trade negotiations, and we all know how well we've faired there over the past few years.

Always seems to be involved in tribunal cases. Does a good job of having a whinge afterwards. Embarrasses himself and the club.

his role with the club is pointless. What has he acheived?

We've had a good defence for 4 years and McKenna has not given it any more run or attack IMO. He doesn't seem to have done any harm but what has he added? The one trophy he could claim might be Swann but then he loses on Cole and Lonie although MM has to remain most culpable for where and how he plays them. Arguably they aren't good enough anyway. I just can't see what McKenna has added myself. I'd clean out the whole coaches box and start again.

Again you're clutching at straws for a valid reason to fire McKenna.

Sure is! Especially with our injuries, and form reversals of the like of Cole, Johnno and Lonie, and the stellar recruiting of awesome small defenders like Morrison.

In the mean time, Wakes, Clemo and Presti have all played probably a cog or two higher than their GF years. McKenna had no influence there?

Dunno what your beef is with the guy Mark. He was a superstar and our defence has been OK, with the exception of the early 20somethings having various brain implosions!

Gotta agree, Clement, Presti and Wakes have all played really really well, and Maxwell, Swan, H. Shaw and O'Brien have all showed very good progress in defense.

No tears about losing Robert Shaw over on Bomberblitz. Thanks for the service, Robert. See ya.

Assistant coaches don't have that long a lifespan. Would you like Mark Harvey too?
