I am of the opinion that, if we had had a less 'emotional' coach in 93, Fitzroy would have made the finals. I've watched him a few times as the Essendon 'back room guru' on C7 raving on and I reckon he squandered a team. Remember he was praised for performing miracles with the Lions and got the job from Hell with the Crows. Serves him right.

What does everyone think ?

It is a tough call.

He lost a few players, but also probably motivated/scared others into performing better than they would otherwise have done.

We'll never know, but I reckon he did quite well until he lost that "fire in the belly".

What exactly does this mean? Are you saying that if Robert Shaw had got on with his players better by being less 'emotional' they would have made the finals.

How exactly? Examples?

As far as I am aware and from what I saw, Robert Shaw got on fine with our senior (read best) players Roos, Gale, Broderick, Lynch, Armstrong, Lyon, Wynd etc.
