Same here if the playing group were not off their heads we should have one at least 2 or 3 flags. A team of Cousins, Kerr, Cox, Judd is a once in a generation team anyway we move on to bigger and better things. the club is in a much better space now

I think people forget how average our forward and back lines were.

The backline contained Glass, Waters and Wirra who were All-Australians at one point in their career.

There were some good players back then and under rated too. Even more so when Whoosh refused to play a zone defence and it was all man on man.

Interestingly, I rewatched the 2007 semi that we lost to Collingwood in extra time and the Eagles were actually running with a zone defence. They definitely didn't do it in 2006 though.

Selwood-Glass-Wirra
B. Jones-Hunter-Waters

Off the bench you had Banfield & Butler. That's a damn solid backline. Meanwhile our listed forward line on the team sheet was this;

Chick - Hansen - Stenglein
Fletcher - Lynch - R. Jones

We have never had a good CHF. Langdon competed but wast clad.

Darling is clearly the best we have had.

Mitchell White and Fraser Gehrig were good, but didn't do it for long enough.

Hansen was great for us as he straightened up the team, but was made of tissue paper and his body continually broke down.

"TONIGHT at Telstra Stadium in Sydney, I want to see the Swans smash West Coast. I want good to triumph over evil."
I remember how that turned out. Bloody good win.

I was there. Had no voice at the end.

Remember the Swans supporters got some kids to hold up a banner with some drug tripe wtitten on it.

Really stuck it up the flogs.

Walls was the coach at the Bears who got the team to take turns beating up one of their own kids in the boxing ring to toughen him up wasnt it?

Talk about a hypocrite.

Walls is a sh!t coach and a sh!t journo.

Yeah 1993 Shane Stemple (spelling?) I think was his name.

He is a premiership coach, but Mark Neeld could have won a flag with that Carlton team by all accounts.

Awful journo, can't escape that at all.

So I've decided that this thread should be locked and any future Bricks from The Walls should go to the media thread.

Much like Michael Christian I am my own authority so you'll have to live with it.

My reasoning is thus: Robert dislikes the Eagles. Sure. He made a stupid preseason comment based on dislike but MORE obviously ignorance. He doesn't watch much of us I would guess.

And we all acknowledged on here we had a huge amount of unknowns going into the season. Nic Nat, Lycett, new stadium, new midfield coach, lots of new faces in the midfield. Lots of potential debutants (5 so far and we could see 8 or 9 by the end). Its all worked superbly so far but there was a chance we'd really struggle this year.

Walls has backtracked again today on his comments, on a show where someone has decided to pay for his thoughts. So there's a lot of mistakes being made around there.

In the end, much like socking Henry Kissinger in the mouth, it feels good but do you end up looking like the guy beating up someones granddad?

He's backtracked, so if and when he puts his foot in it again go nuts on the media thread, but I don't think we need to bump his silly predictions every week.

I'll leave the thread open until tomorrow night, so feel free to post how much you agree with me.
