MAte, put it this way, Robbo was Melbums biggest goal kicker and he only played about 11 games. If he has a good pre-season and we get him for noting he would be an asset up forward as Yarran and Garlett develop. If he's a dud and has cost us nothing, who cares? It's a win-win.

Agree

There would be absolutly no risk in picking him up. He would come cheaply and we could use our last pick on him. There are many on our list that he would be ahead of.

We will be challanging for a flag as soon as next year, I don't see the harm in having a look at experienced players that could fill a few gaps for a year or 2.

Robbo is 100% out of the question, same with barry hall. Thats all we need, another hot head in the team.....barry hall and fev in the same team?? not such a good idea.

Will impede development, especially as we need two replacements for Fev! Our midfield is young enough to be playing in their prime as much as 3 or 4 years after Fev retires (depends on when that is of course).

We have 2 or 3 years to develop forwards whilst Fev is around, then another 3 or 4 to make use of the midfield and backline (assuming Jamo and Bower have consistent futures).

I know I shouldn't of, but I lol'd.

And vote Yes to robbo. I also can't see how we can lose out of this.

This is the thing that irks me a little.

Its hard enough to find key forward types as it is. We need to find a replacement now. And even then we're probably too late. Conventional wisdom is it takes around 3 years for the Key Forward types to 'come on'. Plus we need coverage should the unthinkable happen and Fev go down with a serious injury mid season.

Can you imagine how screwed we'd be then?

I'm not sure how drafting an older player to fill a temporary gap in the list in the PSD would hurt us. Look at the Hawks with Dew and the Dogs with Aker. We could play him out of the goal square... surely he would attract a decent opposition defender each week.

In my books Robbo is a better option than Wiggins/ Cloke/ Fisher and would come cheap.

Plus we might need a bloke like him to fill in while Yarran continues to develop. Its not like he would be taking up a spot in the 22 unless he performs.

Sorry, but I have this aversion to picking up older players *cough* Mick Martyn *cough* in the PSD...

That pick or picks should be used to pick up the best top age players who werent picked up by other clubs...
