I have watched this clip 100 times, have we ever had a player been able to cover the ground like this (don't say Stanton)? I was genuinely amazed.

The people who like Sharp have been saying this every time speed gets mentions.

He is not slow. He does not have burst power but he is fit and covers the ground fine. Add in the fact he is efficient due to his footy IQ and we have a good midfielder on our hands.

He is slow in that his acceleration is quite bad over his first 5 metres which as an inside mid is pretty important for repeat efforts and execute spread both ways and also doesn’t have fast top end speed either. What he does have working excellently for him is that his cruising pace seems to be like 80% of his max and he can sit in that pocket for most of the game, where as most of our others sit at like 50-60% of their max and interlace it with bursts of 90-100%. I think his way is far better for the modern game, but would like to see how he can improve that initial burst.

Don’t know why there is a resistance to calling him slow. Something can be factually accurate and you can also explain why you think it’s not a factor because of xyz. I don’t even remember this resistance to calling Jobe slow, which he was and also was one of the best mids of his era.

And that is how you make up for having just average pace. Rather than running to impact the next play you look at where you can impact the 3rd or 4th possession going forward which then also puts you in a good spot to defend. If that ball turns over, he is basically defending in the corridor straight up.

Would he be about the pace of say Sidebottom?

Maybe a little faster. As Red Black and Blue said his is not great off the mark, but when he gets going, he will go with a lot of guys.

Let this be the last time we compare Sharp to Prismall or Atkinson in any capacity. My hopes are too high already for this kid
In fairness, Prismall was actually a good player whose knees were absolutely rooted.

Its hard to think of a player with size and speed and can go forward and kick a goal.
Closest is probably Dustin Martin. But hes a lot bigger than dusty.

He is probably the next Anthony Koutafides / Matthew Pavlich.
Calm down. He hasn’t even played a VFL game yet

Yeh Prismall was legit so talented. Just never had a good run at it
I wouldn't go that far. He was a mid range talent who did most things well without being great at anything in particular

Couldn't kick any further than 20m

Farrow - elite foot skills/composure

Robey - size and dynamic

Sharp - iq and leadership

I think and hope its farrow as think he has the most upside, robey is biggest need/ list gap. Sharp safest bet for a solid player.
