The fact that he didn't take all the opportunities in the pre-season, yet still got selected for round one, shows that he's still got stuff to offer.

These next 5 weeks for Nahas will be critical, if he can't be selected in that time, it will be disappointing. When he's on top of his game, he is in our best 22.

Yet again we got guys like Vlastuin, Arnott, O'Hanlon fighting for a spot.

I feel for Nahas and White to be honest. Nahas showed nothing over the preseason but was clearly in our best 22 last year and added huge amounts on many occasions. White on the other hand was clearly not in our best 22 last year but showed a great deal in the preseason. Selection is really really difficult as there is always a bunch of guys that will be disappointed but Dimma has now set a precedence of "rewarding a winning team". I prefer the old Mick Malthouse method of rewarding form regardless of the name and having the last 2/3 spots up for grabs on a weekly basis as it pushes the team up and keeps the guys in the 2's morale up but having said that, stability atm is probably exactly what we need and there is plenty of time left in the season to give other blokes a go. Nahas will get his chance.

If drafted when he COULD have been, Nahas would have been drafted in 2005. Here are the second-rounders from the 2005 draft (Picks 19-34 - there were 3 priorities).

Paul Bower, Danny Stanley, Beau Muston, Ryan Cook, Cleve Hughes, Wade Mills, Garrick Ibbotson, Dylan Addison, Matt Riggio, Ben McKinley, Nick Lower, Trent West, Bernie Vince, Matt Spangher, Sam Gilbert, Stephen Owen.

OK, I'll give you Vince, Gilbert, and maybe Addison as clearly better. As for the rest - I reckon Nahas is in the top half of those.

Once past the first round - it's very much a lucky dip.

I'd take Ibbotsen, Lower, & West over Nahas as well, but really, what's the draft from 8 years ago got to do with last years'?

Here's some more relevent names for you, all went Round 2 or later last draft: Wright, Shaw, Jacobs, Membrey, Graham, Sumner , Currie, Kommer. We could certainly do with Currie at least. Some don't rate Jacobs, but I think he's a talented footballer.

Of course none of the others are proven yet, but what's the point of trading for any picks at all if you going to impose that standard?

They will see if they can trade him 1st & I believe there will be some interest in Robbie

Wont cost too much, probably similar to Angus Grahams trade last year where we just swap 3rd round selections
 
Nahas will be good for another team, no doubt about it IMO.

He just isn't suited for Richmond football and seems (from the outside) very sensitive to things like getting dropped or subbed. When there are pressure for spots, he loses all confidence in himself. If he's at a bottom side where he's guaranteed a game, he'll get his confidence back and kick 25-30 goals a year.

I liken his performance to that of dating an insecure girlfriend... She's not bad if you feed her a hundred compliments a day, but when things get serious you might want someone who can stand up in other areas too.

Apologies if I have read him wrong, it's hard to judge from the outside, usually my accuracy with these things is pretty good (I identified Morton's issues in the same way before it become public)

In the end, he is a small forward with poor footskills and a bad attitude/negative mindset. Need I say more?

My Young Bloke is a Doggies supporter, so I’ve seen a bit of them, and IMO, neither the Dogs or Nahas would benefit from of him ending up Whitten Oval.

I just couldn’t see him being selected before Dahlhouse, Gia, Austin or Wood. You also have the ability to park Cooney or Murph in the forward line when needed, AND have a fleet of winger types that make great forward pockets (Hunter, Macrae, Tutt, Stevens etc). The Doggies are looking good and might need some talls more than you need Nahas, who probably play the whole season at Footscray in the VFL. (Congrats on getting a stand-alone VFL team, BTW.)

I’ve always loved Nahas’ work, but this season, he hasn’t looked up to it. I hope he can find his form again, and get selected for 22 games of AFL, either at Punt Road, or somewhere else.

Yeah fair enough just Vespremi hasn't lived up to his potential & our only fleet footed forward half types are Dahlhaus, Hunter & Tutt. Macrae is a tall silky left footer who might develop into a Pendlebury type once he bulks up a bit & I like Stevens & Hrovat but they're more HFF/midfield rotation types. I feel we could do with extra pace & it could release Dahlhaus further afield like how he's played the last 2 months since we've improved.

Anyways cheers for the info guys & make sure you beat that overrated lot who don't deserve to be in the finals. Got a feeling Malthouse will tag you guys all over the park like he did last time but going ultra defensive isn't the best way to play I feel. Good luck in the finals & it's good to see the yellow & black back in September it's been a long time.

If Higgins keeps fit he's naturally going to be Gias replacement as the leader of the forward line but yeah who knows if he'll ever beat his injury woes, maybe a move elsewhere for Shaun like what Monfries did going to Port could get the best out of him.
