And Wally i'd disagree that metal started with Sabbath, check out Cream, blues orientated heavy rock ya but Clapton created (ironically considering he turned out to be a musical snob) the prototype riff heavy metal sound it all started with...imo

dammit now ive started on this try even the Kinks 'you really got me' single for the start of heavy metal haha

Dammit man Iggy and the Stooges doesn't rock yer boat ? or the MC5?

Settle. I'm gonna go out on limb here and suggest you don't read the Basia thread(s) too much.

To clarify, my statement was a generalisation. I like plenty of music that was released pre-77. The two you mentioned, The Dolls, The Beatles, Big Star, Love, Simon & Fcuknuckle, Dylan, Bowie, Marley, Os Mutantes...the list (like the beat) goes on.

But the fact remains that if I was to name, say, my 50 favourite bands of all time, a good 35 or so would be bands that were formed from '77-'97.

Pot - Kettle?

You say Clapton's a snob and follow up with a comment that 99% of heavy metal is shit.

Van Halen are pretty terrible mate. They really should have been left in the 80's. If they are so awesome, explain why their Guitar Hero title was received so poorly that Activision have chosen not to release any more stand alone band titles (in one of the highest selling video game franchises of the last decade, no less) after the already-in-development 'Guitar Hero: Hendrix'.

I know why... absolutely no lastability or playability for anyone that doesn't have a bald patch and a pony tail.

Oh, the old reunion tour argument.

They obviously gotta eat. And, there may always be the chance to hook up again with that Tallahasee skank who may or may not have gained 80kg (or died of old age).

Now be quiet with this argument... I have to go and order my tickets to Boney M at the Canterbury Leagues Club:p

Each to their own FW. LA scene is abuzz with the VH legend and even now if you go, you'll still have cover bands emulate VH. I guess you were too young for VH.. missed the boat, as for GuitarHero.. wanna be musicians.. :thumbsd: Hope BoneyM getcha rocks off. Very soulful choice. :)

Anyways, FOR AC/DC TICKETS, click here..
