Wouldnt go to Rock It for all the weed in Jamaica. Cant imagine anything worse than spending a day surrounded by snotty nosed, upper middle class, 15 year old emo/skate/punks from Sorrento/Duncraig/Craigie/Ocean Reef. Its so frustrating because they actually have a good bill this year (Foo Fighters/Oasis). But unfortunately Rock It has made its name with a succesion of Good Charlotte/Simple Plan/Blink 182/ headliners so for me the image is set.

it will be the best yet. i agree, cant say i enjoy the company and the profile of the crowds, would have fitted into Woodstock easier. better bands than they ever had this time round may get other crowds in. id rather sit in and watch live 8 on dvd when it comes out, floyd, macca, the darkness, keane etc....

Unit, have you seen either of these bands in the last five years? Foo Fighters have been putting out the same album for near on the last ten years, and Oasis are capable of putting people to sleep live.

Kaiser Chiefs wouldn't be too bad to see live, and Wolfmother's Sabbath-isms would be reasonably entertaining, but there's no way I could justify the cost. Plus I gotta save my cash for The Hives and Electric Six. Anyone going to the Hives? That show is going to be hot. Howlin' Pele will show you how to put on a rock show mother********ers.

Squall - Most bands playing Rock-It have an exclusive contract - i.e. no side shows. I can't imagine Foo Fighters would be any different.

i'm going to see the hives in melbourne, will be awesome... got a taste @ the BDO this year, wanna see them again though... would love to see electric six, however they're clashing with the presidents and cog, so i'll have to miss out on electric six and cog... but it will be worth it

AGREED , i hate the image that comes with such events....
I'm going to GODSPEED , the ultimate hard dance/hardcore showcase.

And wtf is an emo anyway? it's not a word in my vocabulary but i imagine it's some sort of depressive metrosexual?

But thats why there is a licensed area, to get away from those teeny boppers. :D

Another drawcard for me is too see Spiderbait again, they were excellent at the BDO 2006. And to see my favourite Perth band Karnivool, who now after many years are becoming popular with the mainstream music punter, they will play the heaviest music of all the bands on the bill at Rock It. :D

So, you want to go to see Foo Fighters and Oasis but you look down on RockIt from their past line ups?

Would that not that indicate you're more of a scenester than those "emo/skate/punks" who only went to see their band of choice?

Not at all. How does me saying id love to see a couple of the bands on the bill but i cant stand the idea of spending a day cooped up with an army of upper middle class kids in the best skate punk costumes, equate to me being a 'scenester'.
Ill tell you when Noel Gallagher looks out into the Rock It crowd he is going to want to vomit. Green and Purple spray painted hair, emo ties, skate sneakers, and moshing. Thats not what Oasis would want. Thats how they will remember Perth. Some city full of poor cxxx who think Good Charlotte is punk rock.

But what would those people be doing there seeing Oasis and Foo Fighters? I doubt the punk/emo kids are going to pay something like $70-$90 to see bands that don't interest them as much, just because it's 'Rock It'.

They will. That 'demographic' see Rock It as 'their' event. Its actually marketed as such, as a specifically youth targeted event. Like it or not, and i fxxxxx hate it, Rock It will be full to the brim of Good Charlotte/Simple Plan wannabes who will have absolutely no appreciation of Oasis. The fact is Oasis have more punk rock attitude in their drum riser than any of these pathetic little pop/angst/ punk tosser groups out of buttfxxx Ohio USA will ever have. Liam and Noel really dont know what they have gotten themselves into by signing up to play Rock It.

Karnivool are pretty good, but to be honest they're about as heavy as my foot.

Unit, you can bitch and moan all you like, but in the end you're still going to give up your hard earned cash to hang out with said emo kids. Oasis couldn't give a ******** about the crowd - they're getting paid.

Last time I went they did, it was the time Blink 182 cancelled, which didn't mater much to me because they are not my cup of tea. Instead we were offered a full refund if you didn't want to go anymore, if you were underage you could claim back $15 after the show, or if you were getting on the p*ss like me you got $15 worth of free drinks. :thumbsu: :D

You obviously haven't heard their old stuff, try listening to songs like DA REKA, FADE, LIFELIKE etc. ;)
Bup-Bow, you lose. Heard it all. Never been a huge fan, they just don't seem to have the edge they need, IMHO. I've always been a far bigger Subtruck fan. Now there's a band that'll shake the fillings outta yer teeth.

I guess its your opinion, but I think that Karnivool are better than Subtruck. :D
