We were 2 - 6 down in Heatseeker
I copied another teams strategy in the previous round and I became the annoying pest/distraction in the opposing teams goal.... putting off their defence which made scoring for us a lot easier

As their lead was being erased: their main attacker was not impressed:

We scored the last 5 goals to win the round :D

Playing the occasional match to try and keep my skills from totally dipping. Had a 1 on 1 match against a player that I thought was an easy beat at first (pretty much 3 - 1, then 4 - 1 with some time remaining). Then the opponent scored with some of my tactics (re: I'll tap the ball, then the opponent slots my tap straight back into my goal).

It quickly became 4 - 3 and I immediately switched from attack to parking the bus massively to try and stop his new found attacking ability. Then 4 - 4 and I lose the match 4 - 5 :( as the opponent scored again with just 1 second left on the clock.

Just played with a rando who was absolutely going off at me on voice chat 🤣. Called me a R****** and we were 2-2… LOL. Rocket League is easily the most toxic community.
Everyone also spams what a save when you concede lol

So I've jumped back into the game over the last 8 days. Out of 60 matches, I had a few streaks in the teens (playing a mix of 1v1/2v2/3v3 - competitive and casual... strangely no tournament play lol) which would get broken up by the occasional loss. But I've also got a hot streak going on.... of losses, currently at 11 losses in a row haha.

The fact it doesn't even have a current gen version is pretty ****ed. Game went down hill as soon as Epic purchased Psyonix.

Did it though? Feel like the game really hasn't substantially changed in the 9 years it's been out. Not that that's necessarily a good thing, either.
Actual gameplay wise no, but all the other decisions (trading, they way their loot boxes work, etc) sucked. Player base is also the lowest it's been since launch (according to steamcharts) which was making games take longer to find. They've basically ignored rocket league even going as far as making a rocket league racing game within fortnite. There has been no new game modes. I know you don't have to buy things but they became very microtransaction focused very quickly after the acquisition. The "vibe "completely changed when they took over. It very quickly went from a game my mates and I played nightly to maybe one night every few months.

I enjoyed my time with the game playing with mates but like a lot of older multiplayer games, it’s player count has gotten to the point where it’s just the diehards really playing.

The game itself hasn't really changed, but jeez the pricing has. We really had a good thing going back in the Psyonix days. I remember the days of new items meaning not loot boxes, but that just playing through a few hours meant you'd get all the random drops eventually. The days of $2.99 DLC cars. It's crazy how much the stuff on there costs these days.

I'm glad it wasn't like that when I was obsessed playing it every night, I'd have dropped so much cash on it.

Having that though, a bunch of workmates playing Forza online together rejuvenated the interest in Rocket League for a few of us and we finally got together for another session last night. Took a long time to dust off the cobwebs, as expected only started to get things to click when we should've been logging off and going to bed.

We were saying that last night when we were playing. We were never great players, we are mostly ground based but can attempt to fly every now and then and maybe pull one off. Took us ages to find opponents at our skill level and not just get repeatedly smacked 5-0 by aerial gurus.

Yeah I’m no aerial pro either. Like me and my friends play smart and can pull off cool shots but we don’t ever practice anything like flip resets or aerial manoeuvres. I’ve now put Rocket League alongside my other multiplayer games that I will only ever touch on a weekend, if you play it on a week day Monday to Thursday you will get nothing but sweats. Don’t have the will to deal with that anymore lol.

Fair enough, I've never given a stuff about the cosmetics and battlepasses so never really felt those changes.
