Because he took a young player in his first games and crucified him. He endorsed a bunch of media deadshits who in the lads first game gave him a reputation which he will find it hard to kick for the rest of his football career. Never has this been done before in VFL/AFL history.
I saw it as constructive captaincy trying to get one our young players to concentrate on getting the ball out of the contest quickly and not concentrating on a free kick. Granted he probably should have done it in house but for people to blow up and call Rocky a poor captain is too much for me. We now have people blaming him for wasting 4 of his 40 disposals. What i seen in Tom is someone who is far from perfect but a leader who wants to see this club rise and be successful again. By the way Luke Hodge is lauded for his captaincy and he has made a lot of mistakes on and off the field.
And saying he crucified Mathieson is way over the top. Did you even listen to what he said and in the manner it was said?
