Is Rodan and Motlop playing for the same spot?

Motlop >>>>> Rodan.

I dont want to sound like a really negative person, but Rodan will NOT chase down ANYONE. He is physically not fast enough to do that. Pre injury/during injury/Post injury. He is not the type of player capable of doing so. When he came to the club at the start, I was very excited by Rodan. This soon fizzled when you realise that he isn't much chop.

Dont expect the unexpected with Rodan. He does try his all but he wont ever make it... consistently that is.

He obviously has some talent - He's played for the most pathetic club in the AFL and didn't fire. We have a penchant for picking up players from other clubs and turning them around.

Yeah, your right.

There was talk of Sturt chasing Rodan after he was delisted.

Now there's a chance that he could still play for us while you lot pay him. That'd be funny ****.

you know whats funny ********? someone that barracks for the ever-mediocre double blues and the utterly soulless 30something% winning record dockers

Rodan played some good games for Richmond before injury and can kick a goal.At only 23 I reckon it was well worth a punt so late in the draft.Obviously there was not much left with any known talent at that stage so it can't hurt.

Fit Rodan's grand plan

NEW Port Adelaide midfielder David Rodan is a man on a mission.

The former Tiger, selected by Port with pick 86, is determined to prove critics wrong with the lifeline he has been handed.

"I'm getting another crack at it and I'm just rapt to be given the opportunity," the 23-year-old said.

"It's good to know what I'm doing instead of playing the waiting game and now I can get out there and prove everyone who doubted me wrong."

Rodan made his debut at Richmond in 2002, but suffered a serious knee injury that made it difficult for him to squeeze back into the line-up.

After being delisted, he started training at Essendon, but any hope of it selecting him vanished when it took midfielder Alwyn Davey -- brother of Melbourne star Aaron -- with pick 36.

"I am an Essendon boy so it would have been nice to go there, but in the end I don't think this is a bad result," Rodan said.

"I think it will be good for me to have a change of environment and I'm pretty lucky."

Port's football manager Peter Rohde said: "We had a chat to him during the week and we see him as a player who can help us straight away.

"We have a lot of young developing players at this draft and we wanted one experienced player among them."

The chance of Rodan giving us more than drafting an immature, developing marginal talent is 86 is pretty high. Even if he only plays 10 games.

Do I think he will stick around long-term? Probably not. But there is something to be said for players who have been in the system already and know what is required of them. The senior players assessment of him is very interesting at least.

Remember in 2004 Port Adelaide had the most recycled players. We won a flag didn't we?

Plus another lead up to the flag. The team went overseas for a team bonding holiday. Much like the trip to London. Sure, we played an exhibition match against the cats but it was more as a way of having the team bond.

Maybe just maybe the team can repeat 2004 next season. :thumbsu:

Whatever happens, stop all this b*tching about who we drafted and who we didnt draft. Just get behind the new guys and show them you support them here at Alberton.

Presumably you'd hold the same opinion if we'd drafted, say, Bert Newton.
Clearly.

Still, when everybody here is dead, she'll be the one in Port heaven with Fos, Shine, Bull and co, and we'll be down in Noarlunga with all the Crows supporters.

Get a life you twit.

You would have a problem with whoever the Power drafted. You seem to know more than the coaching staff about the guys that were in the national draft. Why didnt you put your hand up and demand they let you select our new players.

What a way to welcome the new guys to the team... Reading crap from Wacky!! Way to go Wacky. Make them feel that wanted to the Power

I'm pretty sure Captain Wacky's posts aren't included in Rohde's `Welcome to Port Adelaide' introduction kit for new draftees.

How do you figure? What have I said that would indicate that?

You, on the other hand, have as much as admitted that you could not possibly have a problem with whoever the Power drafted, which is utterly ludicrous.

Yeah, that must be it.

Ah... so this is the root of the problem is it? You're one of those fan forum participants labouring under the delusion that the objects of your adoration are actually reading. :o

One can only but hope its not.

But since two of our new players are from Adelaide, dont you think that its just possible that they or someone they know might just read the boards and see how some supporters of the club are **********ed off that they are to pull on the teal, black and white.

Yeah, fingers crossed...

Are you for real? Beyond outright slander, why would anyone care what someone said about them on the internet? Dumbest idea I ever heard.

I'd also reiterate at this point, not that you're listening, that I've said nothing personal about any of the new boys.
