In the first quarter there was no one in our forward line. We would get the ball and have no where to go. That can only be two things.

1. The coach directed players to play this tactic. Any sane person would see that it gave us no chance of scoring and in turn no chance of winning.

2. Players decided to run up the field. Ignoring the coaches instruction and the coach was unable to control the group.

Either way I blame Eade and the game was over as soon as it starte dbecause of his tactics.

I agree that we need structure but I disagree a little in that blokes like Murphy, Gia and Johnno like to have the ball kicked over their head into the forward 50 and run onto it. So as far as pressing up the ground goes, so long as the opposition is accountable, I don;t mind the strategy, but the whole reason we lost was because we couldn't win the ball up the ground, in the midfield, so that we could pump it in consistently, exactly what Hawthorn did.

If we go out in straught sets what happens to Eade? Before people flame me this is a sincere question. What do you think the ramifications will be? How long has he got? What would be expected next year as minimum result for him to stay on?

It will be a pretty uncomfortable time for him I would imagine.

Might be even more uncomfortable if Matthews was only looking for a move back to Melbourne rather than retirement from coaching.

Todays paper Rocket says "a lot of players didn't perform well, but there are a few of those whose form hasn't been great for a while, so obviously we will start looking at that".

Fair dinkum, start looking at that now. Should have been looking (I assume he means dropping players who are out of form and bringing in someone who wanted to have a go) weeks ago.

The horse has bolted.....the patient is dead on the table.....no chance of a heart transplant when the brain is dead!

Good sides drop players not contributing after a week maybe two not 8 weeks of delusions and hoping it turns around.

To make massive changes this week simply reinforces the idea that all the previous years hard work was for nothing.

Was simply providing an outsider's perspective as supporters of their club become bullish about their playing list, I was setting you and your fellow supporters straight. Morris had 4 goals kicked on him by Michael Osborne, his biggest ever return mind you. Before someone says it, I'm not basing this on 1 game. Dale Morris is similar to Nathan Bock of Adelaide as they peel of their opposing player to get the cheap possession. It's exciting football that a "defender" can gather 20+ possessions in a game and for me this goes along way to them receiving AA attention, despite their inability to beat an opponent in a contest.

You're basing your teams' selection of backmen restricted with the absence of a 19 and a 30 game player respectively???

Ok now I know, you know SFA if you think Morris is that type of backmen, why don't you hijack some other thread somewhere else and **** off.

We played 5 defender's on Friday night... Count them: Lake, Morris, Hargrave, Callan and Gilbee. That is why we had to start Aker down, we had no-one else.

Someone had to play down there when shit hit the fan.
And whose fault is that? Wight, Everitt or Tiller could have played at the expense of a smaller player, but Eade went for 5 defenders.

Cheers.

Osborne kicked 2 on Murf at the end of the 2nd qtr and then 2 on Hargrave at the start of the 3rd.

I can forgive Murphy because he hardly ever plays back there, but I find it hard to forgive Hargrave who is back there every week expecially the goal Osborne kicked even though Hargrave was tackling him next to the post.

I dont care about Hargraves getting 20 uncontested possesions a match, I care about Hargraves opponents kicking goals on him.
