Draft/Trade well if you're talking longer term. I hear the Bulldogs are looking at Andrew Lovett. Lovett is a potential match winner but does go missing, perhaps a change of scenery may be beneficial for all?!?!

The biggest problem with dealing with Essendon is that you tend to overrate your list. Hence you'll want let me hazard to guess 3 first round draft picks. Remember a few years back they offered us a player[whom they delisted] for Scotty West. Laughable

I'd be more inclined to be a little worried about your own list there sonny!
Gee forgot Essendon have got 470 injuries.:rolleyes:

I'm not worried about our list, under rate it at your own peril. Earlier in the season you boys only beat us by 5 goals, we were leading at 3 quarter time before we lost McVeigh and Lonergan. The rematch we were missing half our best 22, 4 players in the side had played < 5 games, 4 players were retiring (and were given sympathy games), we were missing our 2 best ruckmen and we lost a couple of players during the game. You still beat us by less than 8 goals!

If Tom Williams and Dylan Addison are going to be used (see an earlier post) then I'll use Scott Gumbleton and Courtney Dempsey... both of whom have shown as much or more than Tom Williams and Dylan Addison, some may say SFA!!!

I don't overrate our list, you underrate it. I'm honest with where my club is, I know our problems... Bulldogs would give up quite a deal for Andrew Lovett! No doubt about that!

How about definately don't want him, is that better for you.

I personally don't believe any trade rumours etc until the actually happen.

I doubt he would be a fringe player on your list, would make your best 22 easy

Our best 22 would easily beat your best 22, unfortunately we have to go far back as the NAB cup for that.

Hille, McVeigh, Watson, Reimers, Lloyd, Lucas, Davey, Houli, Ryder, Welsh, Stanton, Fletcher, Lovett, Mcphee, Monfries, Laycock, Lovett-Murray, Dempsey, Jetta, Myers, Neagle and Slattery.

Those highlighted were missing when you beat us by 46 points in round 21.

The Donners, why have you hijacked a thread about Rodney Eade with crap about the Bombers?

You come on here without any regard for the facts, particularly where Dale Morris is concerned (not defensive WTF?) and then start comparing your list to ours. At this stage of the year we couldn't give a rats arse about the Bombers list, they're on holidays and we are playing for a prelim spot and have other things to worry about.

I'm sorry but Laycock is absolute shit

Akka on the backline to start the game ? - Why coach so negatively? surely we are out to win the game, not defend it, so i cant comprehend why akka was played out of the back half for the first quarter- to me, thats just conceding defeat already

cheers

I'm totally with you on this point. I was very dissapointed to see akka in the backline. He is most damaging when he is playing in the forward line (he scored our most goals for the night).

I thought Eade would have realised this when the crows took him out of the game last week when he was dragged back in defense.

It was Murphy (no. 2) who was behind Osborne when he jumped for the moon. And please dont ask why Murphy was in defence because that was another one of Eade;s odd decisions. Must win this week.

We played 5 defender's on Friday night... Count them: Lake, Morris, Hargrave, Callan and Gilbee. That is why we had to start Aker down, we had no-one else.

Someone had to play down there when shit hit the fan.

Not enough defenders with a game plan that was ultra defensive to counteract our lack of height down back. We got smashed by taking a backward step and not backing our playing group in, from as early as the selection table.

Can we please add 2 talls to our 22.

For the majority of our wins we have had Lake and one other tall in the backline, this leaves Morris and Hargrave to be the third men up, rather than Callan and leaves Gilbee and Griffin to be more attacking off the back line. Hopefully Gillbee is fit.

On Friday night the number of times players were coming out of the backline under pressure and looked up only to see 4 Hawks to 1 or 2 Dogs and those one or two not be Hahn, Minson or Welsh was frustrating. Finals football tends to put players in the position where their best option under pressure is to send the ball forward in the best fashion possible............so we need options, playing in front, when this happens.

Hopefully two of Wight, Everitt, Skipper or Tiller come into the side for two of our 6 footers (Ray, Eagleton, Harbrow, Callan, Higgins and Hill). Wight may at time make errors but he has the height and is available to go into the ruck should something happen to Hudson. Imagine the situation on Friday night if Hudson or Minson was injured early, given the lack of height we had on the field.

Hill and Higgins give us marking options and with a bit more bulk around him Hill's lack of strength can be covered.

Go Doggies.............a win on Friday night and we are one of four teams with a chance to play in Grand Final.

The team has played far too well this season not to go for it!!!

If we go out in straught sets what happens to Eade? Before people flame me this is a sincere question. What do you think the ramifications will be? How long has he got? What would be expected next year as minimum result for him to stay on?

Why Aker in the backline? Ill hazard a guess - hes one of the smartest users of the ball and would not be overawed by the occasion, so Eade put him down there to help provide drive out of defence. He could have been up forward, but if the ball isnt going up there very much or very accurately, he wouldnt have any more success than he had been having for the last 7 weeks when the team started to play dreadfully.

Morris and Callan are tough competiors but they are hardly going to provide cluster-breaking run out of defence. Lake has to be berrated into running with the ball and hardly ever kicks long. That leaves gilbs and hargreave to make most of the play, and without addison, williams or everitt back there, who is the 6th defender anyway? Certianly not users of the ball of the calibre of tiller, wight or skipper.

We got beaten out of the midfield becaues the hawks midfielders played like they wanted to win a game of footy and ours played like they were scared to make a mistake. Hence silver service and lots of it to the hawks forward line and stuff-all to ours.

You can argue that our recent poor form is eades fault, but we cant prove it.

The players have to play with their balls out this friday, and thats the end of the story. In fact I would get the team seamstress to cut the front out of all their shorts on thursday night and get out the woad.

I think we played above ourselves for the first 15 games and unfortunately Rocket kept trying to hold it together but it has fallen apart a bit. He has tried things since as a coach should do but they haven't worked. Now is the time to go back to basics, play players where they should be played ie. Aker up forward, Welsh leading forward, Minson in the square...the stuff that actually worked in the first half.

Rocket has had to play around with things a bit and unfortunately has been caught out with our lack of form at the wrong time of the year. He faces who I reckon is the top 3 tacticians in the game, Paul Roos this week, so he needs to be on top of his game.

Surely the players are going to be happier playing in positions where they have had success before as well as giving them confidence, something that has been lacking for 2 months.

In the first quarter there was no one in our forward line. We would get the ball and have no where to go. That can only be two things.

1. The coach directed players to play this tactic. Any sane person would see that it gave us no chance of scoring and in turn no chance of winning.

2. Players decided to run up the field. Ignoring the coaches instruction and the coach was unable to control the group.

Either way I blame Eade and the game was over as soon as it starte dbecause of his tactics.
