Seems to be cracking a little bit. Some of his selections (I know this isn't entirely his decision), match day coaching and post match comments have been pretty mystifying in recent weeks.

Is there any chance the dogs might seek a new coach? I think if there is a poor showing in the finals he might be in a bit of trouble.

Thats what I was thinking too. Just comes across as really petty, and shows he doesn't want to face the hard questions .

I don't think they will seek a new coach for next year but I think they probably should.

Doggies may still get a result this year so I suppose that would change everything but things are not looking great. And Eade had a similar result at Swans. Could make them very competitive but could not get them into the big dance.

If I look at the top 4, Eade is probably the only one of the coaches that does not have a "signature".

If you say,

Malthouse inititated the 10 man high rotation midfield

Thompson the play on at all costs

Lyon the frontal pressure game

Clarkson the rolling zone

Can't say the same about Eade, he seems to follow trends rather than set them.

Eade initiated the play on at all costs gamestyle which was then adopted by Geelong. Also was doing the high rotation midfield thing long before Malthouse, who has changed his spots dramatically in the last couple of years. (to his credit)

Eddie has already threatened to sue MM if he tries seeking a new headjob

IMHO the Dogs are dusted this year and due for a bit of trim and tuck work on the list. It may even end up being a good thing for them.

I think Eade knows this also, would surely have to be getting towards the end of his tenure?

Huh?

Rodney Eade's sum total of success as a coach is coaching the North seconds to the 95 flag and one pre season flag with the Dogs.

He spins and invents excuses like nobody else but really, just ain't that great a coach.

It would be sad to see him go, his sprays at 1/4 and 3/4 time are entertaining, especially when he has a go at Lake even if he is dominating.

I spent Saturday night with a few mad Doggies mates. They are old timers, one had a lot to do with the 'Save The Dogs' campaign, the other was a 70 game Footscray veteran from the '70's.

After last weeks debacle and with their premiership hopes dented, they seemed to then focus on a Coleman for BBBB. Quite sad it was.

I made a bold suggestion that all they need is 10%, and as Leigh Matthews says "A new coach can only improve a side by 10% maximum". That new coach should be Leigh Matthews. He broke the 32 year premiership drought of Collingwood, and the 57 year premiership drought of the Lions. He is the only coach that can get THIS squad to a flag. Eade has had control for what, 5-6-7 seasons? I don't know the exact duration, but his time is up. The message is stale, the temper tantrums are not working.

David Smorgon, it is time yourself and Patrick Rose showed Lethal around the western suburbs and introduce the great man to those long suffering supporters; the 80 year old in the zimmer frame and the knitted scarf, the little old lady who remembers 7 goals from a bloke named Collins.

Only a man of the calibre of 'Lethal' Leigh Matthews can win a flag with this current squad.

Do you reckon Leigh Matthews be able to pull a flag with this list without Adam Cooney, Brad Johnson and Dale Morris pulling on the boots and Shaun Higgins on one leg?
