Rodney Eade

Yeah you can't blame the ground, I think Eade was just frustrated, we just lost out best player for the year....give him a break.

But on the SCG....it is really a pretend footy ground and the sooner we stop playing professional AFL footy there the better. You guys toddle off to the the big white elephant at Homebush or better still...why don't you play your share of home games in Canberra instead of sponging off us.

The SCG is as pretend a footy ground as the MCG is!!! The SCG has a fantastic atmosphere (better than the rubbish ground you call home) and also has history behind it. You don't know what you're talking about with those stupid comments. You've simply spat the dummy...best you toddle off and try to find it.

cheers

Why did Sydney give him the flick?

Did Sydney improve after he left?

Has he coached successfully in many big games at the Bulldogs?

Why did the Bulldogs board extend his contract?

and on a less monumental point;

WTF didn't Roughead play on the weekend?

Why did Sydney give him the flick?
The situation became untenable. It's everybody's opinion, including Eade's own he's a much calmer and mature person these days. Nobody disputes that.

Did Sydney improve after he left?
Clearly yes. But the Bulldogs improved when Eade arrived as well.

Has he coached successfully in many big games at the Bulldogs?
In short yes. But we've been between by better teams in all our finals games under Eade.

Why did the Bulldogs board extend his contract?
Because he's done an amazing job, this is our 3rd year in the top 4. Most teams can't even dream of that happening.

WTF didn't Roughead play on the weekend?
No Idea - I guess after the pantsing Roughead/Minson got against Ottens last week we wanted to see what were like with only one ruckman and clearly our other two won't cut it in September if we met Geelong again.

Rodney needed a flag this year, he knew that, he wouldn't have recruited Barry otherwise.

Can't help but be a little cynical and think these injuries will be a great smokescreen that he will use to save his behind.

Probably almost a little relieved is Rodney.

There is no behind to save. A coach that can get you to the third finals series in arow plus one other in 5 years is worth persisting with. Ok, we haven't made the Granny (yet), but we are not getting rid of an experienced coach to put in some unknown.

That only Lethal can win a flag at the Dogs with the current crop of players (as in taking control in 2011). The window is closing and next year is probably their last chance before a rebuild....Lethal wouldn't want to do a five year stint that included a rebuild...but if he was given the opportunity to coach for 1 year, he'd be the man to grab that elusive flag.

What rebuild - not necessary, shows how much you know about the Dogs. We have been playing most of the year with 9 players that never played in last years prelim, including 4 first year players. We have slowly introduced new players to replace older ones and will continue the process next year.

To elaborate; He would add a bit more mongrel, and that is what the Dogs lack. They are great when the game is played on their terms, fast, flashy, free flowing footy......but they can't win dirty. Lethal can add that 10% that the Doggies lack, that little bit of Hawthorn mongrel.

WTF - We are number one for clearances and number two for 1st posession and in the top three for hard ball gets. We have plenty of tough nuts in the team like Cross, Boyd, Picken, Hahn. Hall, Lake etc

Gone are the BS days of cowardly punching people when they aren't looking.

Maybe we crossed wires when I said Lethal and "THIS squad". What I meant was that if given the reins in 2011 with the current talent...ie: this squad (minus the obvious...Johnno, maybe Harbrow) he could add that necessary 10% and win them a flag

Lethal = has been.

But Lethal coached the first 3 premierships of the naughties?

As for Eade, I reckon he's ok. Talk of the Dogs falling down the ladder is a bit premature, their window is closing, but it will re-open pretty soon with the young talent currently on the list and what is to come.

They have some very good players in the 18-25 bracket, they also have Ayce Cordy already and will get Wallis and Libba as F/S. They will do very well in the draft considering they will have been Top 4 in 4 consecutive seasons but still managed to pick up Top 10 talent in several of those drafts due to F/S

Spot on:thumbsu:

it's amazing. Rodney Eade is getting slammed by supporters from such highly performed clubs as Fremantle and my god Richmond!

There was even Demon or two in there also. Amazing. Now I expect he'll cop it from clubs who have won the thing recently or made top 4 in recent years....but those clubs...well it's baffling.

This is the third year in a row that we have made the top 4. He has got us to 2 prelims in that time. And this year is not over yet.

And in that time Freo...Richmond and Melbourne have done little more than tank to build their lists. Melbourne and Richmond are all excited by their tank built potential yet once again failed to make the 8 let alone top 4. Richmond can't even tank build that well.

So aside from making and or winning a flag, Rockets record is better than most coaches currently going around.

Was it last year, that I remember there was quite a concern from Doggies supporters when his contract was extended before the finals series began because he had failed to take that next step you speak of?

I am not bagging the guy, I am saying that in his heart of hearts, he is probably relieved because the Dogs finals campaign looked likely to end up falling short again before the injuries hit.

Don't take this wrong way just because I am a St Kilda supporter, I am well aware of our own history, and I was just expressing an opinion. I'd like to see the Dogs experience success.

You have to wonder about his selections and how he can just not drop senior players even if their not performing just because their senior players, and I know this isnt all his decision!

Sorry don't agree. The MC pick the team from the best players available that week versus the matchups for that week.

Some supporters think they know everything but in reality they know FK all.

In Eades defense, we have had a massive run of bad luck with the bronchial thing which has prevented us from loading up on training, (or training at all) , Easton Wood , (first year player but super impressive)hammy, then Higgins thyroid illness this year, Cooney gone, Ward (OP) cant run, Morris out and Lake playing injured now, and Harbrow going down . That is a big chunk of our top tier players missing in action. Take the equivalent players out of the pies team and they would be struggling too.
Agree 100%. Fate has not dealt you guys a kind hand this year but as someone else mentioned the window is well and truly open. Even if Johnno and Mitch Hahn for example give it away there is still plenty enough talent down there and good F/S talent as has also been pointed out.

You'd want to keep Harbrow though - super important player with heaps of class when right. In the window you are in this is a very rough time to deal with a new AFL team being introduced.

Has given it a good shot but has just fallen short, think the doggies were primed last season, the one that got away. Think they are ever so slightly off this season and will slide from genuine contender to thereabts with the talent they still have for the nex couple of years, from there its just a question of IF they can reload for another tilt.

Eade made a complete fool of himself when he spewed up that sh-- about the ground causing the injury.Deep in that pocket where they contested there was an area just inside the boundary that wasnt well grassed and as Cooney's hammy twanged he drags his back foot and a puff of dirt rises so the little shuffling sh-- talking bald man says the turf gave way.
Give us a spell !!!!! Eade should start looking deeper into his sides problems, starting with the egos at Whitten Oval would probably be a good start. As for sponging off the dogs, your having a lend of yourself mate just as Rodney does, masquerading as a coach. You blokes have sponged off the football public more than any club, managing to rattle more tins than Yooralla and the Childrens Hospital combined.:o:o:o

You and Mark Latham should hang out. Both full of bile.

We have had some bad luck with injury but we also failed to turn over the list adequately. With Barry coming in there is no spot for Hahn and he has been woeful this year. To see him selected for this weeks game made me dry reach.

Smorgo spoke a lot pre season about expecting a premiership this year so Rocket may be in trouble. We lack accountability in the midfield (been smashed there without Coon) and Rocket needs to accept some blame for that.

Enough blame to sack him? Not IMO but I wouldn't be super surprised to see him gone at the end of next season with no premiership.

After the Aker saga, Im hoping the Doggies get smashed in the first
final, I have no sympathy for any of them.

You clearly have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!!

So if you decided to write a book about your place of work, attacking your colleagues, bosses and leaked company secrets you would keep you job! PLEASE!

Get all the facts before you mouth off...

Boy, the vitriol!

You are unaware of the amount the AFL has spent keeping your Swannies going in Sydney? Wow...wow again!

I don't understand this statement?

Sorry I'll try and be clearer...

Personally I think Rodney knew your season looked in trouble long before Cooney injured his hamstring, would you put up your hand if you were Rodney and admit this, or happily blame everything else that has suddenly presented itself?
