The feds will pass over the dollars . They can't afford to lose any WA seats . They are already on the nose in WA with the GST hand out. With holding funds because their mates got rolled would be an act of lunacy. They could kiss goodbye to all but the couple of rusted on Lib seats. It would cost them the election and Malcolm loves being PM.;)
I can see logic to that sentiment.

I can also see the logic that Malcom would love to make Labor look incompetent.

Could go either way.

It's weird that's Libs are on the nose with gst, cos labor didn't say meep during the last federal election about giving a better return.

I do agree though that funds might be released with hope to secure future votes.

Nope...that money aint coming our way now. If the new government wants money for their pet projects it will have to go right back to the start and seek the funding via a business case/submission through infrastructure Australia. There goes half of their election promises.

someone's salty.

Liberal Pollies?
LOL.

Quite a few ministers from the previous government lost their seats. Including the Minister for Environment, Albert Jacob. I've worked with John Day (Minister for Health and former Minister of Planning), so mixed feelings about him becoming unemployed. Tony Simpson on the other hand... I'm celebrating that dodgy mofo is no longer an MP!!! Meanwhile Brendan Grylls has prepared himself well for unemployment as the former Minister for Racing and Gaming.

I suspect a few internal Liberal party power brokers might have been hoping a couple of others lost their seats as well (unfortunately quite a few are immovable objects in the MLC). A massacre is good news for the Libs though imo, they'll be able to clean house (mostly). Some fresh blood is exactly what they need post Barnett.

Agreed,best they went.
The way big Col was talking about unknown levels of faeces on the seats of unseen trucks it was sounding like the 'weapons of mass destruction' argument for rubbing out the enemy!
We were heading for an oligarchy, this will at least give some pause for thought.

Malcolm will be under plenty of pressure to appease WA voters now. It won't just be the Roe8 funding. The GST fair go has already been raised by his party colleagues to avoid getting smashed at the next Federal election - think there is an article on front page of The Worst today. WA could go from one of the Federal Libs strongest support bases to one of the weakest if they are immature about it all.

Agree with this, The Fed libs can't afford to lose any seats in WA. They are in a no win situation, if they increase WA'S share of the GST the other states will jack up and they will have the same situation in the Eastern states. Handing the dollars over to WA for the rail link should appease WA and leaving the GST alone will help keep the other states on side. WA will get the funds.

Feds have already said they can't have the money from roe 8.
If they want money for metronet they have to submit plans for it. Plain and simple, and I'm sure if they do submit, they will get the funding. But to say we want that roe 8 money without submitting any plans is pointless and stupid.

Worked for Col!
He did have that scribbly sketchy thing on the back of the f** packet of course.
"Two weeks from the state election, the Barnett Government has yet to submit its full business case or receive any of the promised Commonwealth funding for its priority road project, the $1.9-billion Perth Freight Link."

No Business case no money, so Marks efforts will produce the same amount of cash that colins did. Like you said "It worked for col"

You shouldn't smoke!!!!!, not only is it a disgusting habit but the gasses and poisons released add to global warming, plus the poor tabacoo plant that was slaughtered for your enjoyment its sickening

Salim if you think libs are almost dead in the water why should they bother in WA, when they can do projects that benefit 4 states. Better for them to invest in East in re-newabels projects and where the bigger voter base is. It takes away use of those dirty coal plants, surely that is a good thing. :)

Obviously project is over but interesting findings from an environmental stand point came out today.

Good to note the strategic timing of the federal greens audit findings. Will be interesting to keep in mind what any federal party does during a states caretaker mode to influence state elections.

"An Office of the Environmental Protection Authority spokeswoman told AAP evidence used for the audit was not presented to the Senate committee inquiry due to timing and that aside from mulch signage, all requirements were met.

As the state government was in a caretaker period when the Senate inquiry was held, and given the issue had become a focal point for the election, it was inappropriate for state government employees to attend a federal inquiry into the alleged environmental breaches," She said."
