Ok so he lost again to the same man, that makes it look worse than it i in reality.
federer has NOT lost 2 consecative since 26th May 2003 and that was in the 1st round at Roland Garros. Whichever way you look at it despite the 2nd loss in 2 weeks to Canas that is a phenomenal record.

Just a few observations;

Fed now has only lost to 3 players over the last year. Canas, Nadal and Murray. 3 players who have fantastic defence and cover the court superbly.
Having watch the majority of these matches Federer's patience seems very questionable partiularly on the forehand which he continually goes for way to much and makes some very very big misses.
This seems to be the way ahead for players to beat him however I cant really think of many players other than the above who have the talent to do this. Very disappointed at how easily Djokovic has been spanked by him. Had High hopes for him.
I also feel Fed may have made a mistake by not playing enough tournements this year. In my opinion in the tiebreaks he was not very used to someone being competitve with him. All tourenments (other than the last 2) he has hardly had a hard match and when it came to crunch points seemed very out of sorts and not used to being under pressure.
Still an amazing player and thought last nights match was brillant to watch but cant wait to see how he responds to this.

This has been the most interesting period in tennis for me since TMC 2005. I am really enjoying the up and coming players flexing their muscles and forging the new tennis landscape. I can't wait until the top 5 looks like:

Federer
Nadal
Murray
Djokovic
Fena/JMDP/Nalbandian.

Then lets see people say how weak Fed's competition is. And judging by this month's events, the question show be Let's see people say how weak Nadal's competition is.

On a personal note, I'm glad the flashy one-dimensional players like Roddick/Monfils/Ginepri/Karlovic continue to tread water against top players. I am following tennis almost as closely as I ever have before and I can't wait to see what unfolds on the clay.
