I feel score involvements and score launches would be more relevant
Dale averages more score involvements than the other 2.

When talking about defenders. It isn't their role to kick goals. It's their job to stop them and for guys like Dale, Rich and the like to launch themWhen are score involvements more relevant than goals.
Player A has 15 score involvements that amount to 5 goals 10 scored by other players.
Player B has 12 score involvements that amount to 10 goals 2 including 6 goals personally scored.
Which player do you want on your team?

Paps has had a hit and miss year, but I think he just about makes it.I don't expect the Swans to have anyone make the AA side
Mills - missed games + very tight competition among mids
Hickey - has been great for us, but wont make the team
Papley - started the year slowly
Dawson - as per Mills in mid, lots of competition on HBF

It's probably down to him Cameron, Greene, and AMT as far as small forwards go. I reckon Greene's a lock, and Paps has probably passed AMT, and is ahead of Cameron in just about every stat except goals, and don't think 2 goals is enough to account for the other discrepancies.
It'd be pretty funny if Paps did make it, because I don't think he's been in our top 5 players this year. I'd have Mills, Parker, Hickey, Bud and Dawson ahead of him at least. Maybe McCartin too.
A good finish to the season could have Swans top 4 and Buddy up forward. He's probably your best shot, outside of Papley given there's not many better small forward options and he's been pretty goodHasn't been a top 4 side without a player in the team since the Pies in 2002
It may not be popular with the kiddies, but if Sydney doesnt get a single fella into this yrs team it'd be a hellova strong signal. Would not be the slightest bit disappointed.
Chances for the squad in likely order.
Mills
Parker
Dawson
Papley
McCartin a sneaky chance for the squad. Great season down back that has largely gone under the radar.
Much the same for Cameron and us. He wouldnt be close to our best 5 players this year, but then I dont think that should be a real consideration for small forwards. Its a bit of niche hard to play role and they can get lost in tough games if the ball doesnt head there often.Paps has had a hit and miss year, but I think he just about makes it.

Yeah, feel like he and Papley have had perpexingly similar seasons in terms of productivity and consistency. Both still clearly two of the best small forwards in the game and lethal at their best, but have also both put in a few stinkers due to form, niggles, or shite performances by their respective sides. Hasn't really felt like an All Australian year for either of them, but they're both reasonable chances to make the squad.Much the same for Cameron and us. Personally I am always an advocate of picking accurate positions and not just extra mids but I fully expect it to be just Greene (with Petracca and co on the flanks) this year
STRANGE PHENOMENA
Geelong FC -the two Toms in Tom Hawkins & Tom Stewart are likely to be the only Cats to be in the final All-Australian team.
Geelong are good chance of winning their last 3 H & A games of which are all to be played at their home ground at GMHBA. If they do so, it will have them winning 14 of their past 15 H & A games & remarkably with this likely hypothetical in mind, there's still a very good chance that there'll be only 2 players in the All-Australian team in Tom Hawkins & Tom Stewart. Injuries & evenness of playing group the likely factor to having possibly only 2 players representative for the Cats in the All Australian team but none the less it does appear to be a strange phenomena, especially with so many other teams losing games below them on AFL ladder...... but I guess it is what it is.
I don't think McCartin will make the squad, but the flavour of the month method of selection might work in his favour if his form keeps up.McCartin is no chance.
Not because he hasn't played well, but the under the radar bit means he is not even in discussion.
The team is picked by people who are only interested in flavour of the month/year.
To get picked you need to be talked up somewhere.
PhatBoy, going back sometime ago I seen video footage of Jack Henry as a junior, pre-draft days & it completely baffled me that he never made the main-draft but went in Rookie-draft being selected by the Cats, so we eventually & 'fortunately' got him anyway. But I must say this kid has shown tremendous courage, talent & commitment to the football & contest right from the get go, with this year being a break out year for him. Especially with his performance when playing on Jack Riewoldt at the MCG in Geelong's first game against the Tigers earlier in year, he beat Jack several times in one on one contests (quiet easily) which was some feat, so he's come along way in a short period of time & yeah I agree with you PhatBoy with Jack being a smokey for the All Australian but at least big show of making squad.Fairly accurate. Perhaps strangely our next most likely would be Jack Henry
I completely agree. The AA is for individuals, but it is entirely possible to have a strong team with even contributors still do well. I am not sure why there is the expectation that the higher a team is the more AA they should have. Carlton for instance will probably have 3, maybe 4. Which is more then Geelong, just as many as Melb, etc etc. Makes little difference in the scheme of things.
I think it is a good sign when a strong team has little to no AA.
It would seem so interesting to see how many noms22 Bloods players have received Coaches' votes. The team is very even.

I think or at least hope sofwiw I think Noble is striving for a similar evenness from your mob.

Have Stringer (deserves to be in side, he's dynamic) replace Dawson (strange pick) and one of three in Papley, AMT or Cameron or random Carlton player!Replace Papley with Stringer, Cameron or AMT.
Dawson is an average player whose form is not at AA level. Replace immediately with some random Carlton player - you just know they deserve the accolade.
Get Plowman in. Surely reverse coleman deserves a jacket?no..no..no...no
