I’ve earned my stripes since returning from my retirement. I played other positions but my posting form warranted a return to my preferred position and would (should) at almost any club.

But once the game starts, I have the smarts to know when my talents are more needed elsewhere on the ground, as happened several times early in games this year.

As a premiership player, celebrated hero of the league and a national treasure, I did conclude that sharing the love is more honourable than claiming every victory for myself.

I think the easy thing to do is just pick the highest goal kickers in the forward line for the All-SFA. It happens every year, with the exception of S11 where I won the Fred but was not named due to an oversight by my captain in the nominations stage.

However, unless rules changed in my absence from the league, posting and playing are equally rated.

So in a year where only 7 goals separated the top 6 of us goal kickers (throw a blanket over us), it SHOULD come down to the more challenging and subjective discussion around who posted better. Not necessarily who we like more, but who warrants a position based on their posting/qooty weighted evenly.

This will be shrugged off as another okeydoke7 ego pump, but I had a fantastic posting season and was a massive presence in the match threads all year, often becoming the topic of conversation, and one of my posts tended to create 6-7 posts from the opposition.

I look at the top 6 of us goal kickers who were all within 7 goals (or as I call it, one game) and it’s very hard to argue that those who made this rolling all-sweet FA were anywhere near me posting wise.

Hey mate, that's a very exhaustive and compelling case that you've put forward and one that I'm sure the committee will give the attention that it deserves, so mazel tov to you.

Quick question for you off the back of it - consider it a hypothetical at this particular juncture... Can somebody be named in an All Sweet FA team if they haven't been nominated for selection?

As I can tell you from my experience in Season 11, where I was a prominent poster and won the ALF Andrews Medal (now the Fred) but was not nominated by my captain due to an oversight - apparently not!

I hadn’t been nominated yet because the Swamprats have been finalising our nominations. But I’m in our nominations.
