Plenty of water to go under the bridge no doubt

First XI
Warner (Comes straight back in)
Harris (Has looked our best bat so far this series, has the technique and would pair up well with Warner)
Khawaja (Struggling right now but you'd expect him to find form)
Smith (Obvious)
S Marsh? (Just doing enough after a poor run, not safe yet)
Head (Solid form so far)
Paine (c)
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazelwood

Back up bowlers
Pattinson (Can he stay fit?)
Tremain (Next in line)
Holland (Next in line)

Back up batsmen
Renshaw (Needs to find form but has runs on the board in England)
Stoinis (Only because I know they will want to take an all rounder)

Will be keeping a close eye in Pukovski's finish to the Shield season. Could slot nicely into number 5 or 6 if he continues his form.

There is a tour game before the Ashes that is basically Aus v Aus A.

Australia
Warner
Harris
Khawaja
Smith
SMarsh
Head
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon

Aus A (This group of players becomes your back up to the first 11)
Renshaw
Bancroft
Burns
Handscomb
Maxwell or Finch.
M Marsh or Stoinis
Wade
Remain
Bird
Sayers
O'keeffe or Holland or Agar.

Anybody not playing in the World cup should be playing the remaining SS games then heading to England and playing country games.

Don't think our best side in England can include all of Hazlewood, Cummins and Starc. Need a variety bowler - Siddle has a great record in Div 1 county cricket so he'd be my choice, but a Worral or Sayers is another option. You can't just blast teams out on English wickets.

I think there is enough variety amongst our 3 quick at the moment. I also wouldn't want to jeopardize the quality of the bowling attack for a bit more variety.

I like the idea that they have a shadow squad travelling, the experience will do players no harm and England did it successfully when they wiped the floor with us a few years back. It is sad that that the traditional tour is now all but dead though.

First team looks about right to me. I think they will take Stoinis or Mitch Marsh, Renshaw or Bancroft depending on form in the second half of the Shield, a back-up middle order batsman like Burns (Handscomb might be done by then). And a youngster like Pucovski should definitely travel with the A-team.

No Pukovski in the A team?

Given there is 10 days between the WC final and the first test it will be very interesting to see how teams approach it if they go deep in the Cup, would there even be time for a tour game if we were to somehow make the final? The Ashes should've been pushed back a year IMO.

That would be an interesting match. Sayers is exactly the type of bowler that will trouble Australian bats in English conditions.

Batsmen:
Warner
Harris
Khawaja
Smith
Head
Handscomb
Pucovski

Wicketkeepers:
Paine
Wade

Allrounders:
Stoinis

Bowlers:
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Winter
Siddle
Lyon
Holland

Australia A will kill Australia as the backup bowlers will do better in English conditions than the main Aussie attack and we know the Aussie batsmen cant make runs on anything other than a WACA Highway

But Siddle has to be in the mix and I assume him being with the squad now is with an eye to the Ashes
