Number 1 was Jay Z - Roc Boys and I have to say that is 100% spot on. Its by far the best song of 2007. Im not normally a fan of Jay Z but this song is awesome and easily the best song of the year

Think Kanye West - Stronger should of been higher but otherwise a good list

LOL @ Umberrrrrrellla Ey Ey EY EY Ey Ey Ey etc....

Rolling Stone sucks. They gave the number 1 song of ALL TIME to Bob Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone'. Name one other list that has this song in the top 50.

That is a terrible list. Absoloutely crap. How in the world that Umbrella does not get number one is rediculous. Many of those other top songs I havn't even heard of.

it has to be as the songs I've mentioned above were from years ago elsewhere - perhaps they had delayed releases to the US
Strange, strange list. I have never been a Rolling Stone fan (Oz or US edition) and this has just confirmed my opinion. I actually buy Q every now and then and enjoy it (mostly). Has a great review section and covers UK OZ and US pretty well.

Britney Spears

Britney gets a pissed-off synth rocker to match her shaved head as she eviscerates the tabs one by one. Proof that she's got a soul — and the right producers to construct it for her.

Soulja Boy

A young Atlanta rhymer-producer cooks up a skeletal stomper and a no-budge MySpace clip, and ends up ruling hip-hop (at least for a few weeks).

35 "Girlfriend"
Avril Lavigne

With its "I Want Candy" beat and bratty Hills-generation entitlement ("Hell, yeah, I'm the mother****ing princess," she chirps), this was '07's ultimate mall-punk shout-along.

96 "Big Girls Don't Cry"
Fergie

A modern-day version of "I Will Survive," except with Fergie proving that she too can carry a tune, and making herself sound even more impossibly lovable in the bargain

Would be on my "100 worst songs ive ever heard"
And Stronger by Kayne West ****ing sucks.

its an RS list, so obviously it misses the mark, but why focus on the singles?
feist's album has some gems on there that blow 1234 away.
oh well.

and Nude is the best song from In Rainbows. one of the bands best.

No complaints for me with Roc Boys at #1, Its probably the best fully mainstream song of the year. But rollingstone need to have a crisis meeting and decide if they are going to be mainstream or actually write what they think. There is no way both Bright Eyes and Britney Spears are in the same persons top 20. Stop trying to cater to all audiences.

Interesting to note they also said Jay-Z's album American Gangster was the third best album of the year.

Going to have to disagree with Stronger though. It is in the bottom half on songs on Graduation. If it were not for the Daft Punk sample it would be a very bland, average song

That's what I hate about that song - it's essentially just Kayne rapping over a Daft Punk song - how can people possibly see that as a production masterpiece?
