Agree but I hate it. We aren't winning shit with Finch, Stoinis or SMarsh in the side. They are all ####ing hopeless and way too much for the others to carry.

Shaun averaged 59 (sr 101) in 2018 from 7 matches and av 70 (sr 90) so far in 2019.

If he continues that I'll be here to admit my mistake in writing him off. I have zero per cent faith in that happening.
Given his strong ODI record overall, not just last year, I’d say your judgement here is pretty ordinary.

Quite easy to have faith in him once you seperate Marsh the Test batsman from Marsh the ODI batsman.

People have been saying for years that Marsh is a better ODI player than he is a test player. Should have played more.

At the moment, I'd go something like this for the XI:

1. Warner
2. Short
3. Marsh
4. Smith
5. Maxwell (c)
6. Stoinis
7. Carey
8. Coulter-Nile
9. Cummins
10. Starc
11. Zampa

Reserves:
12. Hazlewood
13. Khawaja
14. Handscomb
15. Lyon

Could change between now and the WC. Finch might hit some form. Carey might lose his spot to Wade.

Watching this game and our lack of intent to score, I'd be risking it with Darcy Short. He'd have 3 of our top batsmen around him at the top with Warner, Marsh and Smith so it's a risk that could pay off. Could do plenty of damage on the smaller grounds.

I like the length of our batting line up with Coulter-Nile playing. Hazlewood I think will go but his injuries probably mean he might sit on the bench at the start.

Like that team. Only change I probably wouldn't bother with Lyon.

It's hard to put into words how much of a disorganised rabble we are.

Players that have played 5 or more matches in the last 12 months:

Shaun Marsh - 10 matches, 640 runs, ave 64, S/R 97.70
Glenn Maxwell - 10 matches, 298 runs, ave 33, S/R 105.30
Marcus Stoinis - 12 matches, 278 runs, ave 25, S/R 81.28
Alex Carey - 9 matches, 255 runs, ave 32, S/R 76.11
Aaron Finch - 12 matches, 244 runs, ave 20, S/R 75.77
Travis Head - 8 matches, 209 runs, ave 26, S/R 103.98

Marcus Stoinis - 12 matches, 15 wickets, ave 37, Econ 6.14
Jye Richardson - 6 matches, 11 wickets, ave 30, Econ 5.71
Billy Stanlake - 5 matches, 6 wickets, ave 43, Econ 5.56
Ashton Agar - 5 matches, 4 wickets, ave 58, Econ 5.52

You could legit make a case that Shaun Marsh is the only player worthy of selection!!!!!! Shaun ****ing Marsh

Zero continuity and woefully out of form.

Worst world cup squad EVER.

Finch and Carey gone. Rather have Paine captain and keeping and Short opening with Warner.

If we're going to bat the keeper at #7 anyway, why not just go with Paine as keeper and captain? Probably should have tried it in the lead-up.

Our full strength bowling contingent and even just Starc alone alone probably pull this squad ahead of the 79 WC squad. Still pretty grim though.

We did try it in the lead-up when we toured England with Paine captain and he was terrible 36 runs @ 7.20 on the way to a 5-0 drubbing.
